Great item. Makes changing disks easy and a tool free process

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick release grinder nut

    R. · October 20, 2025

This is a very nice angle grinder nut that doesn't require a wrench. The outside edge has ample grip to tighten the nut and the underside grips the grinder disc well. It's very sturdy and fits grinders with a 5/8-11 arbor which is pretty standard (at least in the US). This will make changing grinder disc more simple rather than trying to find your misplaced wrench each time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Makes the work at hand easier

    M. · September 29, 2025

Works as described. It's quite bulky, even twice as thick as a regular arbor nut, and so it's really durable. Very grippy both on the profile and the inside surface. In addition to the size, it's also quite heavy which probably contributes to maintaining a tight lock on the grinding discs. One thing I am not sure about is there is about 1/8" of rotation play between the two sections. Likely a feature to aid in auto-tightening when the grinder is powered on.It's very easy to use - don't have to use any tools to take it off and on.The one issue here is that it is a one-sided nut and therefore should not be used with type 27 cupped discs as it can not acquire a proper purchase. Great addition to the grinding kit for working with flat type 1 discs, so it will be used as a backup or become dedicated to an additional grinder that I'll only use for type 1 discs. For a unique accessory, it's definitely worth the money.Side note: Sharpie included in images for scale/reference)

5.0 out of 5 stars Didn't know these existed. Don't know how I worked without it.

My Dewalt grinder has this type of nut and I really like it. I didn't realize you could buy these aftermarket for cheap angle grinders, but here we are. This is an awesome nut. It is designed to be installed by hand and can be tightened firmly by grasping the cutting disc and rotating it clockwise. The finish is consistent and the writing is laser etched, so it probably won't wear off too quickly, though it really isn't important for using the nut. Fits my cheap Skill brand grinder perfectly. The nut is quite a bit larger than the nut that came on my grinder. One thing I noticed is that if the disc isn't perfectly flat, the knurled edge will hit first and it won't work. That's the case with flap discs. Grinding discs and cutoff's work perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Should come standard with your angle grinder

    M.W. · October 18, 2025

I am always losing the disk change tool to my angle grinder. This has saved me so much time change disks. It fits well on my 4 1/2" angle grinder and it simple to use. I have not had any issues with it coming loose while in use and it is easy to remove. It is heavy and well made, very durable. These should be the default when you buy the angle grinder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tough Construction, Stays Tight & Easy To Remove

    C. · October 3, 2025

The media could not be loaded. This is a good idea that might become my go-to grinder nut.The construction of the nut appears to be hard steel. Versus the standard nut, this one is assembled with an inner and an outer shell. The knurled outer shell rotates very slightly in the direction of 'loosen'.The fit is very good. Slightly thicker than the aluminum nut that shipped with my Bosch 4 1/2" grinder, and definitely thicker than the more standard nuts that shipped with my DeWalt 5" grinder.I tested with a thin kerf cut-off wheel and a new 1/4" grinder wheel. Both fit very well. Though the nut tightens by hand, or using a standard pin-width grinder wrench, it did not spin off during use. After cutting through some rebar and flat grinding mild steel, it still spun off using fingers only. I feel this is a durable long-lasting upgrade to a standard grinder wheel nut.The only drawback that I see is the slight increase in thickness over a standard nut. When flat grinding, I could make it contact the work piece by tilting down. However, I use a grinder with the guard in place, and the guard occasionally touches as well.Overall, I find this a good investment at the current price point, and a good value for the money. This is a tool that goes to the job site. Mine is staying on the grinder. I recommend this to DIYers and hard jobbing professionals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, just a little on the thick side for some jobs

    B.P. · September 27, 2025

My only complaint with this is the physical size but it works amazing. If they could slim it down it would be absolute perfection but as it is, it is still a great addition but not useable in every scenario because of the thickness. It is unbelievable how easy it is to loosen it and how well it holds just from a twist hand tight. Probably could have saved 6 months of time over my life if I would have had one of these and not had to look for the wrench and use it every time. Going to order half a dozen more to keep all over the shop! Well worth the money IMO.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't fit a Milwaukee grinder

    D.M. · October 13, 2025

Didnt fit a Milwaukee grinder tool

Pretty handy for either an upgrade or a replacement

    C.D. · September 29, 2025

I chose this quick-release angle grinder nut for use on my 4.5" Bosch angle grinder. I use this grinder most and thus it tends to see the most disc swaps. As shown in my photos, this nut is substantially thicker than the stock nut but it really does work well. The increased surface areas allows you to get a grip on it with your fingers and fix the disc much quicker than with a wrench. While it does have two indent holes for using a wrench, these holes didn't match the spacing on the original nut (not an issue for me as I use one of the adjustable wrenches from Bolo). It's a pretty solid unit that works well but as shown in the photo, it does extend higher than the stock nut. If you're working in tight spots or need to run the disc pretty flat against a workpiece, you do run the risk of impacting the nut against the workpiece which could be a problem in terms of damage to either the nut or the work. For flap discs or recessed disks, this is less likely to be an issue but it's something to keep in mind.I particularly like using this nut for cutting discs. They wear out fast and since I'm using them edge-on, the width of the nut makes no difference.Great upgrade or replacement nut if you've lost the original!

It will make disc changes easier for for some people

    c. · September 25, 2025

The UBGN angle grinder disc retaining nut is good, but it's just a thicker nut that offers more surface for a better grip. I have always been able to unfasten the nut on my angle grinder by hand, I simply lock the arbour and grip the grinding disc and give it a turn, the reason I can do this is because I tighten the grinder disc hand tight, there is no need to over tighten a disc with a wrench, hand tight is enough to keep the disc from coming loose. The UBGN disc retaining nut will help you remove a grinder disc more easily because you can grip it better, so for some people, they will think this nut is amazing, I on the other hand, think that it is worth a 5 star rating, but if you have a nut on your angle grinder that you do not struggle with removing, you might not need this one, however, it is thicker and it has been knurled so removing it will be easier than the nut that came with the angle grinder.

Grind Hard Like a Pro (and Ditch the Spanner Wrench)

    L. · October 7, 2025

Call me impressed! I wasn’t totally sure if this quick-release nut would work, but it does and makes changing disks quick, easy and tool free.I spent about 20 minutes grinding rust off a trailer fender, swapping between a few different discs to dial in the finish. The whole time, the quick-release nut performed great. Easy to take on and off and held securely. No more digging around for the spanner wrench, and trying to juggle the grinder while taking the disk off.Only one minor issue - and it’s not a flaw, just something to keep in mind — the nut sticks out a lot ore than an standard one.If you're using offset grinding wheels (with the recessed center), it likely won’t matter but with flat cut-off wheels or sanding discs, or if you're grinding really flat to a surface, the nut might be an issue and could hit the workpiece before the disc does. This is the only downside based on my experience with it. It’s solid, well build, and works. Has rubber gripping on the side where the disk goes and securely locks into place based on hand tightening.Final Thought - If you regularly change out wheels on a 4.5" or 5" grinder, this 5/8"-11 self-locking flange nut will make things a lot quicker and easier - definitely a game changer for those that grind hard and often.

A Convenient Upgrade for My Angle Grinder

    A. · September 24, 2025

I have a large corded angle grinder. The UBGN Quick Release Nut fit and worked perfectly, eliminating the need for a spanner wrench every time I change the discs. Constructed from high-carbon steel, the nut feels durable and well-machined, with a knurled surface that provides a secure grip and reliable hand tightening. Installation and removal require only finger pressure, and the self-locking design maintained a consistent hold on the accessory during operation. In testing, the nut performed well with grinding discs. The locking mechanism engages smoothly, and once tightened, the disc remained firmly in place. The quick-release feature also worked as expected. There are some considerations worth noting. Because the nut sits higher on the arbor than the factory version, it can potentially make contact with the work surface during grinding at low angles. This was not an issue for me, but users who frequently grind flat against material may find this limiting.Overall, this product is well-designed, easy to use, and offers excellent convenience. It worked very well with my grinder setup.

Love it, works great but a bit pricey

    N. · September 26, 2025

I wish i had known about this product sooner.I have constantly struggled with removing the standard nut on angle grinders. Its difficult to hold the locking button down attach the wrench and be able to have enough strength to loosen the nut without the wrench falling off.The locking nut has some weight to it and seems to be well made, opposed to being made from light weight alloy. This locking nut was fairly easy to remove with just your hand. Even if the wrench is needed, it requires such little force to remove it. The only drawback to using this nut, is that it protrudes above the grinding wheel and can interfere with grinding. The ease to which it comes off far outweighs the occasional interference that the nut can create. It's listed at $16 for one nut, which is a bit pricey compared to others. Despite the price and based on the functionality, look and feel of the locking nut, i am quite happy with this item.
