5.0 out of 5 stars This thing absolutely destroyed my yard! In a GOOD way!!!
I have 2 acres and some of my yard is great and nice dark brown soil, other parts are silty and clay-like.So every year, sometimes several times a year, I am forced to break down the soil in areas that are dense because grass just won't grow there. I have rakes that I attach to the back of my riding lawn mower, and they help a little. I also have an attachment that aerates my yard by pulling plugs up. Again, it does a great job but I have an irrigation system so I really have to be super careful as to not destroy the plastic piping underground and I always hit one when I aerate unfortunately, not to mention having to put up flags so I don't hit my sprinkler heads and damage those. Its a pain and I dread it.I saw this and was like...hmmmm. Is that really going to break up the soil? Is it going to be a lot of manual labor?The answer is its actually FUN to use because you see immediate results! I decided to use it on 2 of my most troublesome areas and it left me with soil that I can now overseed for the winter and not have to worry about. Once you put rocks in it, its heavy but it rolls right along effortlessly. I was a little concerned about that honestly but its so much fun watching do its "damage" to the soil that the manual aspect of it didn't bother me a bit. I just threw it in a wagon to carry it to the spots I wanted to use it instead of actually lugging it around the yard.Now I will spray some soil conditioner over it so it can seep into the ground and not just run off and I will be on my way to a healthy lawn and soil next Spring. I highly recommend it for really compacted areas. Much better than having plugs laying around your yard that you have to let disintegrate back into the earth and it gets ALL of the area, not just a plug every few inches. Totally soil on this!As for putting it together? My 17-year-old daughter did it while I watched and she had no problems. The tools provided made it easy. Just be sure to use all of the tools. Initially she didn't use one of the tools and it was taking forever so spread everything out and know what is provided.The only bad thing is the pins you have to use to hold the spikes on you have to bend with pliers. I didn't like that but it seems to hold but seems like a weak spot to me that will be where this breaks when it gets older.But overall, no complaints at all!

It’s a lot to put together. It’s not an aerator where it takes dirt from the ground like a traditional aerator. It just pits nail holes in the ground. You would have to work tirelessly to make just a dent in your lawn. Stay away. Not worth the time and effort

The media could not be loaded. After a long dry summer, it finally rained enough for me to test out this lawn aerator. I was humming along assembling it and was stopped dead in my tracks by a washer that had an interior too small to fit over the rod that connects the aerator to the handle. Luckily, I live with someone who could grind out the interior diameter to make it fit. That saved me a trip to the hardware store looking for a matching washer. One of the nuts didn’t work either, but luckily the manufacturer included a spare.The whole tool is heavy. It feels extremely sturdy. I first tried it without any rocks inside. Apparently, we didn’t get as much rain as I had hoped. The aerator only penetrated into the ground about ¼”- ½”. I unscrewed all the nuts from the removable panel and added in two full jars of ornamental river pebbles, I had in my garden shed, for weight. Now the tool is really, really heavy. I find it is most easily carried by the crossbar near where the “wheel” connects to the handle.It is hard to believe that something so heavy is so easily maneuverable. It’s really kind of fun to drive it around my yard. With the river pebbles included, I got 1” of penetration. I hope to get even better penetration when the ground is more water saturated.I do wish this tool had a folding handle. My preference would be to store this tool on its side. If I were to store it laying down, the long handle takes up a lot of real estate in my garage or mud porch. Those long spikes stored in an upright position look like they would cause serious damage if someone tripped and fell on them. I saved the packing Styrofoam to keep on it during storage to help pad it but any force against those spikes will cause them to poke all the way through the foam.

The worst product ever. Who really used this on their lawn and said it was good. It’s terrible and NEVER is it a good purchase. Don’t waste your time putting it together or trying to use this triangle NIGHTMARE.
