These stair treads were a great find and really transformed our unfinished basement stairs (bare wood). The pack comes with plenty—enough for a full staircase—so you won’t have to worry about running short. We had extra left over.We put them on unfinished plywood stairs leading down to the basement, and I honestly wasn’t sure how well they would stick since plywood is dusty and not perfectly even. Surprisingly, they adhered really well and have stayed put. The adhesive on the back is great, it's just sticky enough to hold them in place, but doesn't leave residue, probably wouldn't damage any surfaces when you peel it off.The whole set of 15 stairs took about 20–30 minutes to finish. The only tricky part was peeling off the backing: it’s a very thin plastic that tears easily, so you end up removing it in pieces. Once I figured out to peel diagonally and take it slow, it went a lot smoother, though I do wish the backing was thicker so it would come off in one nice piece instead of 5 pieces.The treads themselves are nicer than expected—thick, soft underfoot, and padded enough to make the stairs feel more comfortable and quieter. They really improved the look and feel of what used to be loud, hollow plywood steps. There appear to be some minor imperfections in the design, because the stair treads arrive folded up, you can still kind of see where the folds were because the strings in the pattern have adapted to accommodate the folds if that makes sense.One small note: if you’re a perfectionist, you may notice that the treads aren’t all cut to the exact same size. Because the brown edges are machined a little differently, a few were off by about 1/8 inch, which makes it tricky if you’re trying to line them up perfectly with the stair above. Not a big deal from a few feet away but worth considering if you're a perfectionist.Overall, they’re a solid upgrade—easy to install, comfortable to walk on, and they instantly improve the look and safety of the stairs.

I got these stair treads for the stairs leading up to a finished attic bedroom. The original stairs were wood and we wanted something that was a little more grippy without having to do a full carpet installation. I wasn’t sure about the pattern, but I did like the idea very much of just a fixing a tread to a stare in a way that was aesthetically pleasing, and would provide both comfort and grip.These are basically fixed in place to each step with a tape like adhesive. You simply peel the backing off and smooth it out on the wooden stair itself. That’s the bulk of installation, there are no long explanations, no involved instructions. Even if you’ve never done anything like this, you could knock it out in an afternoon. The adhesive tape is very grippy, and once it is positioned, it’s positioned. You’ll want to be very careful to make sure it is exactly where you want it as a fixing it a second time I don’t feel would be much of an option.The only downside I found in this product is that there is not quite enough adhesive on the back to render the stair tread as smooth and as secure as I would like. When the installation was complete, there were gaps where you could see that the adhesive had not quite fixed itself to the stair. Not knowing how that would age or how long it would last,we decided to remedy that with a staple gun, which was a perfect solution. But you might want to take note as it did seem to be an issue for us, and just seems like it’s not going to last over a longer period of time without some additional way to secure it. I am deducting one star for this.

I thought this was for the steps when I ordered it. That was my mistake. It’s a nice square piece for the landing. Totally looks great. Edges nicely hemmed.

Super soft. They are not completely slip proof but they are better than our wooden steps. They were easy to install. They are super sticky so a few have come up just after a few weeks. I don’t know that they will last long term. They do stain pretty easily too.

The media could not be loaded. I hate the steps in my home. I don’t even know what they are made out of, but they are weird. I think they are granite. I feel like I’m at a mall. They get slippery and my pets slip when they go up and down the steps. I saw these and decided to give them a try. They look better than I expected and easy to install. It took me about 20 minutes to 12 steps. I like that they can be easily adjusted with the slightly sticky backing. I also like that you can put them in the washer when they get dirty. They are soft on my feet, and now I have a better grip when going up and down my stairs. This is a great quick fix and upgrade until we can get the steps redone. I also like how the gray matched our paint well. I would buy these again. My only complaint is that the plastic on the back is hard to see when taking off. I couldn’t tell if I had got all of the plastic from the edges. A good idea might be to put a pattern on the back that makes it easy to see any tape you miss.

I like the aesthetic of these stair tread rugs, but I had a different set with a non-slip backing and was disappointed to find these are not made the same. They are accompanied by little non-slip tabs which must be adhered tot he back of the treads to try to hold them in place and it jsut does not work as well on our wood stairs with dogs climbing up and down and pulling on them constantly. I still gave them 4 stars because they are really beautiful and well-made. I just wish the backing was fully non-slip so they would stay in place under more vigorous foot traffic. (And dog paws!)
