Bolo invited me to review this as part of the Vine program. But is it really oak? I think it's probably rubberwood, which is farmed and widely available in Asia. Rubberwood is lighter than oak, has less pronounced grain, and is typically used in small pieces joined together using finger joints. I did however once buy an "oak" table that turned out to be rubberwood on a homemade pedestal made out of oak flooring. Some people do refer to rubberwood as "Malaysian oak" and it would make sense that "south to east" wood went from south Asia to east Asia before it came here.Anyway, this is a set of four (rubberwood?!) cutting boards with a food grade seal and distinctive tabs labeled fish, meat, veg, and bread in a matching vertical stand that keeps them together. Each board is solid wood (pieced) with square edges 11.75x9.1"/298x231mm in a 7/16"/11mm thickness. The labels are painted steel, with a flat plate welded to a bent metal rod whose ends are inserted into the cutting board.To tell the truth, I wouldn't really want an oak cutting board because of the pronounced open grain, at least in American varieties. I never recognized a wood as Asian oak in my fifteen years in Asia so I can't say about that, although the internet says it exists. Maple or walnut are traditional choices, but rubberwood with a food grade lacquer should work fine although it is a bit less hard/dense than the heavier hardwoods.Four matching cutting boards is an interesting twist, although I never cook fresh fish here in the rocky mountain high desert. There is trout out there if I could catch it!From my point of view, these are a bit on the small side for chopping a whole onion or slicing a loaf of homemade bread, but certainly big enough for slicing cheese, tomatoes, carrots, or cucumbers, not to mention preparing garlic, ginger, and basil. My wife thinks they are a nice size and not too heavy, making them easier to manage. It's definitely nice to be able to grab another one a few times instead of using the same board for disparate ingredients.

Got these to replace old plastic cutting boards I have been using after reading about micro plastics and how wood is the safest cutting board. This is a very nice looking set of cutting boards. They are labeled by food type to avoid cross contamination issues. Fish, Meat, Veg, and Bread are the default labels and they can't easily be removed or changed. This is actually smart though and I feel safer using them and knowing what has been cut on that board before. It also makes it easy to know which side of the cutting board is the "top" side so that you can stack them correctly in the stand. The stand is small and makes it convenient and easy to store and access these cutting boards.The board themselves are made from Oak and seem to be heavy duty. I have used them a few times and they show very minimal signs of wear and tear. These should last a long time with proper care. Wash in the sink, don't soak them, and use mineral oil on them monthly to keep them looking like new. I have used them for a few weeks and am very happy with them. I wish they were a little bit bigger but they are perfect for quick tasks and preparing typical lunches and dinners. They look good and feel good when you use them. Very happy with these cutting boards and glad i got rid of the old plastic ones.

Nice feeling wood, nice storage stand, and easy to clean. The cutting boards appear to be made from a lot of different pieces of bamboo. One board has at least 10 different pieces glued together. It’s as if they took a lot of scraps, glued them together, and then cut them up into cutting boards. I like the way it’s glued together, which seems to be a good way to join them all together. I uploaded a photo so you can see what I am talking about. I realized you should have one cutting board per thing you are cutting up. For example: One cutting board should only be used for fish and a different cutting board for meat. Although it’s cute, I really don’t think it’s necessary to label each cutting board. The cutting boards are fairly small. I would prefer something about twice as big. The reason being is, most of the stuff I would be cutting on these boards is larger than the cutting board. I have never owned bamboo cutting boards, so having some recommended care instructions in the box would be nice.

We just received this pack of four wooden cutting boards. I like that they have tabs on top so that you can keep like with like when cutting. They look nice, store well and fit on our countertop below our cabinets. In one aspect, I wish they were a little larger, but in another, they do provide ample space for cooking for 4 in most cases, and because they are smaller, they do fit on the countertop which gives us easier access to everything. The wood looks good against our stone which I appreciate. The boards are a little larger than a standard sheet of office paper, and about 1 cm thick. That is ample for cutting, without being overly thick and bulky. I wish they were dishwashable, but that may be asking a bit much. They wipe down easily with soap and water, and then once a month rub it with wood oil. Truth be told, that is probably going to be a hassle, but to get away from a plastic board, it may just be the price of dealing with wood. I think for 4 wooden boards, plus the metal rack, I am happy with the value on this. This feels durable and we should be able to enjoy them hopefully for a while to come.
