It’s easy to look at the affordable price of this kit and think of it as a beginner’s item. Surely, there are similar light setups that are more durable and “professional” quality, but for feature set and overall design, this lightweight kit has the major bases covered. The only shortcoming I’m seeing is exactly that—with the legs sufficiently separated to provide a stable platform, the tripod height is about 56 inches, making it best suited for tabletop and seated or shorter subject portraiture. If that’s your jam, it’s not an issue, and in either event it does not take away from the quality of the light itself. The included 85-watt LED bulb is quite powerful, has an 8,000-hour lifespan and is lightweight (6.5 ounces) with a strong metal housing fit with a popular E27 bulb socket. The bulb was difficult to fit and tighten to the softbox ring, and I needed a small screwdriver to pry open the battery compartment of the remote. Everything is new and hopefully will fit better with wear. The remote is stepless and features the usual array of power, brightness and color temperature controls. It requires two AAA batteries (not included). I tested the remote range to about 40 feet, which is the maximum in my small home. The controller requires a direct line of sight to the bulb. The light has an attached, 9-and-a-half-foot power cord with an inline on/off switch about 3 feet from the plug end; all other controls are via the remote only. The softbox features a “silver particle inner baffle for uniform light projection.” It works. At a distance of about four feet it produces only slightly more shadow than when the diffusion screen is attached (see photos). For even softer light, the softbox can be directed upward to bounce from the ceiling. It rotates 360 degrees laterally. The stand and light together weigh 3 pounds and .7 ounces. Included are a small user manual; a quality polyester carrying bag with zippered top and a strap with a hook and loop handgrip; and a vinyl bag with hook and look closure for the softbox.

This is a solid photography light that has performed well in my initial testing. I’ve tried it across a few different ranges on my camera, and I’m pleased to say it doesn’t cause any strobing, which is always a concern with lower-quality lights. The brightness could be stronger, but compared to a standard ring light it is significantly brighter and provides more even coverage. For portraits, product shots, or video work, it delivers a nice, soft light that enhances the overall image quality.Assembly was straightforward and very similar to other soft boxes I’ve worked with. The frame pops into place without much hassle, and the diffuser material attaches securely. The included stand is functional, but it does feel on the cheaper side. It’s made from lightweight aluminum and plastic, so while it holds up fine for my basic use cases, I’d be cautious about relying on it in more demanding professional setups or in situations where the light might get bumped.One nice addition is the carrying case, which makes transport easier and helps keep everything organized. However, the bag had a very strong off-gassing smell when it first arrived. The odor was overwhelming enough that I had to leave it outside for almost a full day before I could bring it back in. It has improved since airing out, but it’s worth being prepared for that initial chemical smell.Overall, this light is a good value for the price. It’s brighter than a ring light, provides reliable performance without flicker, and is easy to assemble. While the stand and bag could be better, the actual lighting function works as expected, making this a solid option for beginner to intermediate photographers and content creators.

One of the best lights I've used so far! the remote is amazing, I would use this as a soft or bounced light to create ambience in a room. it can be used as key light but the bulb is bright enough to se the tone for whatever you are shooting. I even use this in general for room light i.e. a lamp when I'm not shooting videos or pictures. the remote is definitely a plus and the bulb design is nice. it doesn't feel hot at all like the older photography light bulbs from other kits. the brightness is just enough to where if you have 2 of these your 110% set, but even ONE IS ENOUGH.The contents included were perfect! the carry bag is the size of a regular duffle bag and carries MORE THAN THE LIGHT. i could say it would be able to fit 3x the contents it came with, that's including the tripod stand, the bulb, soft box and umbrella reflector. there is a separate durable thick bag to hold the tripod or the light housing/umbrella. and i kept the lightbulb box to place the lightbulb for travel specifically.

This is a very inexpensive softbox and lighting kit. The light itself works well, and the remote lets you adjust color temperature and brightness, which is convenient. However, the remote is made from very thin, cheap plastic that won’t hold up to much use, and the battery door is so flimsy it likely won’t survive many battery changes before breaking.The stand is cheaply made but functional. The softbox attaches with a plastic mount and the light bulb itself. The stand is small and lacks durability, so it feels like it’s made to be portable rather than heavy-duty.It comes with a storage bag, but I’d recommend setting it up in one spot and leaving it there for the best longevity.If it were marketed as a beginner’s softbox, it might earn 3 stars as a budget option. But since it’s sold as a professional product, it falls far short of that quality and only earns a generous 2 stars. I can’t imagine any professional not returning this, and even beginners would be better off spending a little more for more reliable gear.
