One of our consulting clients is a restaurant located on the beach in Florida. We oversee their financial affairs and collaborate with their Certified Public Accountant to enhance their overall operations. Over the past three to four months, there has been a significant increase in their base labor costs. A distinctive aspect of their operational procedures involves scheduling many employees for split shifts. Employees perform the lunch service and then leave, returning later for the dinner service. To ensure fairness, this schedule is rotated so that each day, different employees remain while others depart, thereby preventing the same individuals from being compensated for non-productive time continuously. The full rotation cycle spans eight days before restarting. We identified that several employees were "forgetting" to punch out between 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM, though it remains unclear whether this is intentional or merely an oversight. To address this, we installed a punching unit at face level near the employee entrance/exit, which automatically records punches when employees leave or arrive. If an employee attempts to leave without punching out, they must duck beneath the unit, which is recorded by a security camera, allowing immediate awareness of such incidents. This is an interesting timeclock. I got it for my small business and unfortunately I'm not going to continue using it. The software is a bit clunky, but I could get used to it. The main issue I had is the facial recognition is just too good. If you walk by the clock and happen to glance at it, it'll clock you in/out, only takes a fraction of a second to happen.If you have this in a place where people will only be to clock in/out then it would work fine, but my shop is smaller and I don't have a location suitable for this.All-in-all it's nice time clock with great facial recognition, software takes a little getting used to and if I had a chance to use it more I'm sure it would be perfectly suitable once you get the hang of it. Just know a simple glance at the clock will clock people in/out.
