My Daughter’s First Step Into Coding
My daughter was curious about how computers work, so I got her this coding kit. Instead of just words on a screen, it uses colorful magnetic blocks that snap together like a puzzle. She loves clicking them into place and watching her little cat character move across the screen.It’s simple, fun, and tough enough to last. The price feels fair for something that turns coding into play. I’m glad I found it—it’s a great way to spark her interest and let her learn while having fun.
Great idea
The idea of this is great and the ability to code without a computer but still visually appealing and still be interactive is a really good idea.The items arrived in a resealable poly bag and I assumed the prices would be magnetic. They are thin card with a sheet of magnet you can apply yourself. If the set was cheaper I would think this was fine but for what it costs, I expect this should have been either strips of magnet or all assembled for you.I’m not sure how durable these will be but to make it more durable I would recommend storing these is something else than the poly bag supplied.The actual concept is good and my kids have enjoyed coding at home. It’s a very engaging way of coding without a screen and we like this.
Too DIY
These Scratch teaching aids are disappointing. I expected magnetic pieces for the whiteboard that would stand the strain of the classroom. Instead, I received a ziploc bag of die-cut card and DIY magnets to stick on the back. The cards are nicely made, and would suit a home user getting to grips with Scratch, but they aren't going to last long in regular teaching and for the £35 price I rather feel they should.
Engaging coding set for kids
My nephew has been loving this Scratch block-based coding set. The magnetic pieces make it easy and fun to experiment with coding concepts without needing a computer, and he enjoys creating different sequences and programs. It’s a hands-on way to learn STEM skills, encouraging problem-solving and logical thinking in an interactive way.He also appreciates how it sparks creativity and curiosity, keeping him engaged for extended play sessions. Learning Resources Scratch Block-Based Coding Magnetic Demonstration Set:My 8 year old daughter's school started teaching coding to her last year and it is something I would like her to stick to whether it remains a viable skill in the future or not.I thought that this kit would help me explain things to her during home work and study sessions at home.It is basically a physical version of what is taught on screen at school. This way is more hands on and easier to breakdown if there is confusion.I am a bit concerned about the price though, its high for what you get. It probably makes sense if you are in a hurry to get something to match a class or homework but if you are prepared beforehand, I don't see why any one couldn't have made this after a visit to a craft store. Who knows, your child might enjoy making them from scratch.Again, its good and the ready made product would benefit many but from my personal perspective I would have pencilled in a fun weekend of coding from paper pieces to computer games.
