Love this thing! We're already using it to pick up twice the amount of leaves in half the time. It saves my back from having to bend over consistently and shovel the leaves into the bag, with the RakeMate all I have to do is slide it on the two rakes and then they're ready to go! Such a genius invention - so glad I found it!

I have a bad back which always makes it difficult and painful for me to pick up the leaves after I rake them into a pile, but this device made it quite easy for me and without the pain. What a clever little invention, and I love the name.

I hoped this would make scooping leaves up and putting them into the recycle bin easier..however...Once I tried it I instantly grokked more than a few things about it...(1) The ad says "attaches to any standard rakes" ie the maker assumes that the diameter of your rake handles are standard... they're not. I have two rakes, one has a wooden handle, and one is aluminum with a shrink-tube covering. Both rakes are "about" the same diameter, but they aren't exactly the same.So trying to put this together, my wooden handle rake is a titch smaller in diameter and just slips through the hole of this gadget. It never holds the rake tightly. The Aluminum rake is slightly bigger in diameter and there was no way to slide this gadget down on to the handle, until I finally gave up and applied some silicone lubricant to it. Then I forced it into place.So now both rakes are set up with this gadget- I tried picking up some leaves and dumping them into the bin... because the wooden rake handle slid easily around inside the gadget, doing this was darned-near impossible. I fumbled with the setup for 10 minutes and finally gave up, and just picked the leaves up with my hands and stuck them into the bin- which was MUCH easier than fumbling around with this thing and never getting it to work as advertised.What was maybe a good idea was probably never beta tested in the field. Had the maker used a more flexible/more elastic urethane material, with smaller diameter holes that (with more flexibility) would have easily slipped and gripped many different diameter handles, it might have worked. But I will bet that the maker didn't go out and buy twenty different rakes from twenty different outlets, and test them all. Had that happened the maker may have said to himself "um.. I gotta do some more thinking about this"I looked at their website. I cant believe anyone has put this much effort int creating a product that doesn't work!!(I guess this happens all the time though)And last, I really don't appreciate being fed scripture in the instruction sheet. Do I really care about John 14:6 ?Well maybe, but prolly not when I am trying to put leaves in the trash bin... The way and the truth is, these things don't work. Don't waste your money.

I ordered the RakeMate Garden Tool looking forward to turning two of my three rakes into a convenient pick-up tool for leaves. Unfortunately, I ended up feeling like Goldilocks because only one of my rakes has a handle that fits RakeMate; my second (and newest) rake which has a metal handle was too big, and my third rake, which is several years old has a handle that’s too small and doesn't fit snug enough for it to work. So, in order to use it, I will have to get another rake with the correct size handle. I like the texture of RakeMate. It appears to be tough and durable but being that all rake handles are not the same size, it would been great if RakeMate could be adjusted to fit more than one sized handle.

This is a thick urethane figure-8 that joins two rakes together to form a pair of tongs, like a giant salad server. The urethane is tough and seems like it will withstand a lot of flexing. That's important, because it'll be flexed and stretched every time you pick up leaves. I like the orange color that makes it difficult to misplace outside. The holes in the RakeMate are a bit loose on my standard-size wood handle rakes; the RakeMate won't fit rake handles with foam covers.

The media could not be loaded. So cool! I bought this as a gift for someone who needs to do a lot of raking in the yard and he loves it! It is high quality, easy to use and most important it makes leaves and all kinds of debris easy to pick up and move without hassle or back strain. I was really impressed with the packaging and overall quality - a tool that will last a long time. Very cool product for a great price. I’ll post a video soon!

OK so gadgets like this need to be mated with properly fitting rakes/tools/handles to make it work. The holes are made to fit the ONE INCH handles that are found on many rakes and outdoor implements BUT many have different sized handles. So I would suggest that you measure your handle diameters BEFORE picking one of these up. If you have the right handles on your tools this thing is pretty stankin’ handy. I am a Contractor and Business Owner and I am not getting any younger and I have found this to be useful for more than just 2 rakes and leaf pickup. I have fit to a rake and pan for a “pooper scooper” set-up and I have used it with a rake and SMALL shovel to do some other work. I even tried with a broom and a dustpan on a stick and it worked well. There are solutions if your handles are too thin to make this stay in place, it just takes a little creativity and problem solving.It is made of very tough and hard to bend by hand material and I see it lasting a long time if not left out in the sun or run over by a lawnmower.Overall, I really like the gadget and it does work well when paired properly with the right sized handles. However, I feel it is a bit spendy for what it is. I would be more apt to recommend this to friends and family if it was not placed at a premium price tier. The price at this time of this review is $19.99 with a 5% off coupon code. I think most people would be much happier with this if it was more affordable. Anyways….it works and I like it. It can be versatile with a little imagination and ingenuity also. So I am happy with it overall.
