I upgraded my coffee roaster and needed to also do more testing. This moisture meter fits the bill. First the quality is super nice and very well built. Its solid and definately does not feel cheap. Functionally you couldn't ask for a better moisture/density meter for the price point. I have done comparisons with other meters and this absolutely did the job with accuracy that matched more expensive meters. I would say for the money its a super nice value.The directions were very straight forward and easy to follow. I would recommend going to Youtube and watching the setup videos. They follow the direction guide to the T.This tester has allowed me to step up my game in roasting and understand where my raw bean is before roasting. This is a super great buy and a great addtion to my setup.

This was designed for testing coffee beans but I bought this to test our hazelnuts dryness. I never saw any instructions in the box but figured it out. Its seems to work fine.

The first thing I would say is that if you really want to see how this thing works, watch the videos here or on Youtube. There are some excellent videos that demonstrate the calibration, operation, and app, better than I'm ever going to describe it.This unit comes with its own hard case like a serious lab instrument. The packaging shows a lot of consideration for the product and the consumer.The setup and operation are straightforward. As mentioned, the easiest way to learn it is to watch the video.The tester works great. It's fast. It's accurate. It's hard to screw up. It measures temperature and compensates for it which means you can test on the fly. It's compact. The rechargeable battery makes it easy to move to wherever you need it. The battery life is plenty considering how quickly the tester operates. There is an auto-off feature so considering how little time it needs to be on for it would be hard to run out of battery.I tried the app, and it works, but I don't see much use for it for just this tester. It seems like it's intended more for the manufacturer's other products, which I don't have. If you're already invested in their ecosystem I'm sure it would make more sense.There are progressive levels of coffee snobbery and at some point you cannot progress further without an instrument like this. Once you have a tester like this the idea of roasting by color or smell will seem so archaic.
