5.0 out of 5 stars My kid's new obsession [OSULLOC Mint Maesil, Peppermint Tea with Maesil (Korean Plum) 20ct]
I was introduced to the OSULLOC brand through the Vine reviewer program, and I liked that product so much (Lychee Peach Kombucha) that I purchased it three more times on my own and have purchased their other flavors as well, such as this Mint Maesil tea. My kid is a fan of peppermint tea, but Mint Maesil is now an obsession of hers. The aroma is softer and more complex (I like the fruity hint of plum and apple) and despite the addition of a bit of organic cane sugar, it doesn't actually taste sweet. However, just because it has a soft flavor, I've found that I can steep the bag for three cups, making these more affordable (I picked up a 20 ct box at $9.59). I like that this high-quality tea comes in a paper tea bag as well. This flavor has earned a permanent spot in my tea collection, will definitely be picking up more of the Mint Maesil flavor at the next sale!
4.0 out of 5 stars Fresh and Minty, Better with Honey
I brewed a cup of OSULLOC Mint Maesil on a slow afternoon and the first sip was very minty—clean, herby, and refreshing. The maesil (Korean plum) adds a gentle fruit note, but the mint is the boss here. On its own, the taste is fine, not amazing; it feels like a simple, soothing tea you’d drink after a meal. When I stirred in a little honey, it came alive—the sweetness rounded out the sharp mint and made the cup warmer and more balanced. I liked it hot, but it also works over ice for a cool, calm drink. If you want something light that settles the stomach and clears the head, this fits the bill. Just keep honey nearby to make it go from “okay” to “mmm, that’s nice.”
5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice subtle mint aroma and flavor; soothing with many organic ingredients; relaxing
I really like this tea a great deal. When I opened an individually wrapped tea bag, the aroma was mostly a more subtle mint; I like this as an alternative to some of the very strong mint teas I have. There was also another aroma I could not place but it was ever so slightly fruity; perhaps the Korean plum.I made a cup of tea per the directions: 8.5 ounces of water heated to 195° F, steeped for 5 minutes. My picture shows a brewed cup which yields a nice straw / gold color. Brewed, the aroma was a nice subtle mint. The taste was very nice and pretty much as described by the seller; “mint with a subtle Moesil [Korean Plum] sweetness”. It’s very nice and was relaxing, soothing to me. Another household member tried and loved this tea indicating they planned to have it in the evenings.Overall, I really like this caffeine free blend. The tea bags are individually wrapped, and the majority of the ingredients are listed as USDA organic (with 2 exceptions being “natural” apple and peppermint flavor). I would recommend this blend to family and friends for consideration; it’s very nice. [4.75] stars]
5.0 out of 5 stars My new favorite mint tea
This OSULLOC Peppermint Tea with Maesil is now my favorite mint tea. As soon as you open the bag you are greeted by a wonderful mint aroma. The mint taste is light but very distinct. You can really tell that they added natural peppermint flavor on top of what the peppermint leaves provide. The mintyness is nicely balanced by the other ingredients. There are a lot of different flavors playing off each other in this tea. I can't really taste the maesil, but together with the apple, it's probably responsible for a slight fruity note. Fennel, camomile, and lemon grass add spicy, herby, and grassy flavors. There's also licorice root and a tiny bit of sugar (not enough to be listed in the nutrition facts), but there's really only a hint of sweetness. This does not taste like a sweetened tea at all.The finished tea has a lovely yellow color, and it feels luxurious. It's the perfect after dinner tea. At 60 cents per bag, it's also a pretty good value.
4.0 out of 5 stars Decent mint tea without a fake taste
This tea was surprisingly decent, without a fakey taste. It's not too strong, not too weak, and had a nice mint flavor to it.I'm not sure about the effectiveness of the digestion part of it, as I don't really have problems there, but it was a nice drink. It's a little expensive compared to my typical teas (60c/bag here?) so I don't think I'll be reordering it, but it's fine.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice minty taste and aroma
This tea is good. I am not usually a big tea drinker but every once in a while, especially when I’m sick, I like a cup of tea. This one is nice. For me, I get mostly a minty taste and feeling about it. The smell is minty as is the taste. It feels cooling and refreshing, almost like when you take a deep breath after brushing your teeth. I like it.It feels soothing and right now I’m battling a chest cold with a nasty cough; this tea is making my throat feel much better after coughing much of the night.
3.0 out of 5 stars A Warming Tea Completely Dominated by Ginger
While this is an aromatic and high-quality tea, be warned that the ginger flavor is incredibly overbearing. I was expecting a delicate green tea with subtle hints of tangerine and spice, but what I got was an aggressive, pungent ginger taste that completely masks everything else. If you are specifically looking for a very strong, almost medicinal ginger tea, this might be for you. However, for anyone hoping to enjoy the nuanced flavor of a classic green tea, this will be a major disappointment.
4.0 out of 5 stars Relaxing & Effective, Lavender is Prominent
Great flavor and aroma. The lavender is the prominent flavor and smell, which I don't mind because I like the taste of natural lavender. It reminds me of the pure lavender syrup I use in my coffee sometimes. It was strong enough that I could brew the bag twice and still get some lavender flavor. This tastes like natural lavender, not artificial. The chamomile and other flavors are not as notable. The box lists passion fruit and maybe it comes in somewhere, but I would be looking for it. It is effective for relaxation and I felt a little drowsy so it has good strength, but not quite as much as the fully chamomile one I usually buy.
Amazing, immunity boosting ginger tea
An absolutely delightful tea to be enjoyed at any time of the day. The ginger is warming as well as great for your immune system. A staple for the colder months for sure - I just wish a box of 20 tea bags wasn't so pricey, but I do appreciate where this tea is grown and the cost covering the rejuvenation of land on Jeju island.
Tasy if you make it strong or weak. Lots of options. Works cold with lemon too. Great!
The box contains 20 teabags, each of which is individually wrapped. The instructions say to use 250ml of water to steep a bag, which makes roughly one normal sized mug. For personal taste, I use double that quantity of water. I make it in a glass teapot, and find that it still makes a strong enough brew for me.It's made up of maesil, which is a Korean green plum which I understand it also called Japanese apricot, plus mint and fennel. As it's herbal, it's caffeine free. The ingredients list seems to contain no additives at all, which is nice.Taste wise, it gives you a good hit of mint mixed with a very subtle, barely detectable, suggestion of aniseed together with a slightly sweet tangy flavour which I presume comes from the maesil. The combination makes a nice refreshing drink. If made strong, a hint of bitterness can be detected after drinking. My favourite way of making this tea is to have it cold with a slice of lemon, wonderful on a hot day. It's so tasty and refreshing.
Not the cheapest, but very nice.
This tea arrives in a box of 20 bags in individually wrapped sachets. It works out at about 50p a cup which isn't the cheapest herbal style tea, but isn't by any means super expensive.Immediately I was struck by the ginger and cinnamon aroma. This is strong and well rounded. These are the nicer style of tea bag with a string and tag that you can wrap around the handle to make them easier to remove after brewing. The bag produced a slightly darker brew than I was expecting, but there is no bitterness or overpowering bergamot style flavour. Certainly none of the astringency I associate with Earl Grey or Lady Grey. The combination of the ginger and the citrus is smooth and reminded me of the smell of freshly dug earth. Very nice.
Posh mint
Priced at £9.99 for 20 bags (50p a bag)This is an interesting and strong tasting tea. The mint flavour really is quite pronounced compared to many other mint teas I have tried. It is a good blend and I can't fault anything at all about the flavour or consistently of the tea. Each bag is individually wrapped which I like because then I can slip my favourite tea easily in to a pocket or bag and know I can have it anywhere. My only reason for dropping a star is this seems quite expensive for tea.
Very refreshing, and not strong - unless you let it cool too much
The teabags smell like a gloriously rich ginger cake - very inviting. The brewed tea, however, smells and tastes of ginger. It's quite a mild taste - unless you forget about the tea for a while, as the strength of the brew keeps growing, and the warm tea has a very strong taste of ginger, which came as a bit of a jolt, though wasn't unpleasant. This is a very refreshing drink; there is the usual list of claimed health benefits, but it's a pleasant brew whether or not the claims have any foundation. I used water at 90 degrees, which gave a satisfactory result. A welcome discovery.
