Surprisingly Comfortable and Reliable – Great for Mobile Gaming and Emulation! BONUS: It works with a phone case!This might be one of the most comfortable controllers I’ve ever used—second only to the Switch 2 Pro controller. The ergonomic design feels natural in the hands, and the build quality is absolutely SOLID.When I first received it, I was disappointed to see that the packaging only listed Android compatibility, especially since the product description clearly states it also supports iOS. Initially, I had trouble getting it to work with my iPhone 16—until I realized I hadn’t updated to iOS 18.5. Once I updated the system, everything connected smoothly. Setup was simple and hassle-free after that.The only downside is that 8BitDo currently doesn’t offer a companion controller app for iOS. However, I was able to connect the controller to my retired Galaxy S24, and that allowed me to update the firmware and remap the back buttons exactly how I wanted.Whether you're into game streaming, emulators, or just want a comfortable and responsive mobile controller, this is a fantastic option. Highly recommended for both Android and iOS users—just make sure your iOS version is up to date!

This controller is fantastic, I know it’s bluetooth but that’s really the only downside to it. Its quality is top notch like most 8bitdo products. Hall effect triggers, buttons, and joysticks make the controller feel premium and I know it will last a long time. I’m pairing it with OneCast on my iPhone 14 Pro Max (on iOS 26 Beta) and it works amazingly, input lag is honestly not noticeable compared to my Razer Kishi V2, which has much worse ergonomics.Can definitely recommend!

works pretty well on my iphone 14. the turbo and programmable buttons don't work at all, but they'd likely work fine on android. it also feels insanely good to use. the ios app doesn't work with this at all.

The app thats recommended to download for the controller dosent work but not like it matters.This controller works straight off the box and I played a few hours of spiderman remastered through steam link while I was at my in-house.Very good controller, dosent need to do more and what it does is all you need

So far tried cloud gaming in xbox and works amazing especially for the price. I just got it today in the morning and tried it for a little bit but the app connected to the controller and looks like I can map it, so far it all works but ill update if anything.... this controller feels nice, love the bluetooth connectivity, it works amazing but the bad part was that it doesn't vibrate but besides that so far its amazing and love it..

The feel and build were good quality, especially for the price. But Bluetooth just isn’t a valid solution for cloud gaming. Even on WiFi with a 300d/200u connection, the lag was such that 4-5 games I tried it on were unplayable. Switched it over to 5g, and it was worse.If you want it for a native mobile game, it might work. But avoid for cloud gaming, especially Xbox

At first, I was very impressed with the overall build quality of this controller. All the buttons felt and sounded amazing, the plastic sturdy and smooth, and it just felt solid all around.When I actually started playing games though, I had some reservations about the Bluetooth connection and input delay. Overall, while it is definitely bearable for less input-heavy games like turn-based RPGs, anything requiring precise action is noticeably laggy and WILL impact your in-game performance.Worst of all for me, I began to notice that I would often get false diagonals from the D-Pad when playing retro games, rendering it completely useless for those kinds of games: trying to move to the right and instead crouching because I’m holding SLIGHTLY too far down even though it seems that I’m definitely holding right. Tested with a different controller, and I no longer experienced this issue.Overall, I really wanted to love it, initial impressions excited the hell out of me. Disappointed. I’m going to refund and try out the Gamesir G8 Galileo instead for $30 more.

I’d like to start by mentioning that I’ve reviewed dozens of iOS controllers. Countless different brands and styles.This controller feels like a really nice expandable controller. I’ve used it for a little while now and I can confidently say that it’s a viable option for those looking for a quality iOS controller. Especially the expandable style.Comes with an Xbox layout and buttons. The joysticks are full size and sensitive. Possibly a little too sensitive. Depending on the game, there may be options to play with sensitivity.Buttons all react accordingly. Also has trigger buttons on the back, which is a nice feature.Some reviews were saying that the controller does not work with their iOS. I did not at first, but I read the instruction and it has a minimum of IOS “X”, so I had to update my phone to the newer software. Once that was done everything worked as it should. No issues.Overall, I’m really happy with this controller and love these expandable style ones. Easily beats the backbone (which I do own and have reviewed) by a mile.4/5.

J’ai testé la manette MGX 8BitDo avec mon Samsung Galaxy A52s (écran OLED 6.5") et je dois dire que l’ensemble m’a agréablement surpris.Fabrication :La manette est très bien faite. Les boutons et joysticks n’ont rien à envier à une manette Xbox officielle. Le système à ressort qui s’adapte à la taille du téléphone est robuste et maintient le smartphone sans jeu ni vibrations.Petit détail important : il faut placer le téléphone du côté gauche pour que le module photo arrière tombe bien dans l’espace prévu (il y a suffisamment de marge, même pour les mobiles avec blocs photo volumineux).J’apprécie aussi la présence d’un port USB-C pour la recharge, ainsi que le témoin lumineux qui permet de visualiser l’état de charge facilement.Connexion Bluetooth :L’appairage est simple, comme avec tout accessoire Bluetooth. Le bouton Xbox, situé sous le joystick droit, permet d’allumer la manette. Il suffit ensuite de lancer le jumelage et de l’associer au mobile.Utilisation :Jeux mobiles : testée avec Asphalt 8, la prise en main est bien meilleure qu’avec les commandes tactiles, et tout fonctionne parfaitement.Émulation : testée avec un émulateur, la MGX est reconnue automatiquement. Une fois les boutons mappés, j’ai pu jouer à plusieurs jeux retro avec une fluidité parfaite.Console Xbox : la compatibilité est native, tout fonctionne comme prévu.PS5 en remote play : par défaut, la MGX n’est pas reconnue, mais certaines applis Android permettent d’utiliser des manettes tierces, ce qui m’a permis de la connecter, et de jouer à distance à mes jeux installés sans latence notable grâce à une bonne connexion fibre.Amélioration souhaitée :J’aurais aimé un système avec fiche USB-C intégrée, qui se branche directement au téléphone et permette de recharger la manette et le smartphone sans avoir à le retirer. Ce serait un vrai plus pour les longues sessions.Verdict :La MGX fait bien plus que ce qu’on attend d’elle. Solide, fluide, compatible Xbox, Android, et utilisable dans plusieurs configurations et plateformes, c’est une manette sérieuse pour le gaming mobile et à distance. 5 étoiles bien méritées.
