This tool is on the lighter side, feeling just a touch flimsy, but when using it, I find it does the job and is easy to use. The end bit goes into just about any 1.25mm hole to polish the ends of the fiber optic cable while still sheathed in the connector. You have to be careful feeding the new cleaning surface, and I had it bend once and had to run a bit extra to have it straighten out again. Not worth taking a star, because it was a small hiccup on a very reasonably priced item. Just one of these is probably all you will ever need, unless you do fiber optic cabling as part of your job.Works great for a great price makes a five star item.Five Star Fiber Optic Cable End Cleaner

This little fiber cleaning pen actually surprised me. I picked it up to troubleshoot a receiver issue and, lo and behold, it worked. One click and the signal came back like it owed me money. Functionally, it’s solid. Cleans LC connectors with no fuss, muss, and seems to have plenty of clicks in it.Now, the build quality? Let’s just say it’s not winning any design awards. It feels like it was made from the same plastic as dollar store squirt guns. But hey, it still works and works well, which is more than I can say for some.If you can get past the toy-like feel, it’s a great tool to have in your kit. Just don’t drop it or look at it too hard.

I got this as I work on a campus with 23 IDFs all connected with fiber, we move things around a lot and have fiber patch cables that sometimes get tossed in a cabinet with no tip protection, and then they get dirty. This little pen has definitely helped with the signal strength/integrity for those situations. Thankfully I haven't had to try to use it on any optics yet but it appears that it would work well for that. I do believe these are white label re-brands as I ordered another one from another "brand" and its literally physically identical down to the injection molding marks on the casing. Regardless though, for the price it does the job and does it well. Especially for a disposable tool.

Worked like a champ.I tested with some LC-LC cables that had uncovered ferrules using an OPM and VFL.Prior to cleaning -35dbm and after cleaning around -20dbm. Keep in mind this wasn't from an SFP, just measured 1550nm off a LED VFL source but it obviously cleaned off some schmutz!

I picked up the LC/UPC pen. This item works well and cleans my ferrules after a couple clicks.The main issue I've run across with some pens is the tape becoming disengaged or not advancing properly with each click. My experiences with this pen have been great. My scope is showing clean endfaces on the fiber and I haven't experienced tangled tape to date.

I have a 10G Fiber home network. I'm always moving things around sometimes requiring me to unplug my fibers. This cleaner is dead simple to use. Put a single fiber into the end and push it in. If you are running duplex fiber you do it again for the other fiber. Work great, and is durable enough to put in the desk drawer. It has a cover for the end to keep the cleaning pad clean.I recommend this product.
