MATCHA WHISK:OVERVIEW: This is a beautiful (Chashaku) whisk for the Matcha tea person. I also love using it to make Matcha ice cubes to add to my drinking water for both flavor and better hydration. For that I make the Matcha extra strong to be distributed into many cubes. I usually place one to two cubes in my quart glass mason drinking jar. The whisk performs as it should and is super nice!THE DETAILS: This is a Chashaku whisk designed for Matcha (powdered green tea) and made out of traditional bamboo. The packaging and the listing did not indicate if this was made in Japan or China. FINAL NOTE: Beautiful whisk for getting started on the morning journey of Matcha tea. This could be a great gift.

I start my day out with a morning almond milk matcha latte. It’sa cherished ritual, where I take the time to hand whisk the matcha powder into hot waterwith a traditional matcha bamboo whisk. Daily vigorous agitation eventually breaks downmy whisks, so I ordered this whisk as a replacement. I tried an imitation, plasticwhisk that does not have the center knot with the idea of not having to replace mychasen any more, but these kind of whisks are pretty much useless and do not producefroth with staying power. This traditional bamboo whisk did not disappoint. I happilywhisked a batch of matcha, covering the entire bowl with lasting froth (see picture). Thesecret to this technique lies in multiple factors. Make sure, the water or liquid is reallyhot, then whisk vigorously in an “M” or zigzag motion, where you let the center knot floatabove the bottom of your matcha bowl without applying downward pressure. I'm not an expert in the world of matcha but I've found that it's easier to mix matcha with the correct tools rather than trying to do it with a fork or regular whisk. This matcha whisk is very nice looking and a good size, big enough to get the job done but small enough to store without taking up too much room. The bamboo seems sturdy enough, it doesn't seem like anything will break off too easily. It does a good job mixing my matcha powder and getting rid of lumps while creating a nice foamy top. In my book that's a win.

This is specifically sold as a one hundred and twenty tine matcha whisk. It says so in the description,, on the box, and in Japanese on the whisk case.. That is the perfect amount of tines to easily get a good foam, and would be worth a premium price.Unfortunately the whisk has far fewer tines. I count less than eighty. I'm very disappointed and hope to find a whisk with a true high tine count soon.

My first time using a matcha whisk. What a beautiful and useful tool made from a little piece of bamboo! What craftsmanship! I was also impressed by the soft, quiet feeling of the whisking, very pleasing. I didn't manage to get much foam in my matcha, but it was very smooth. Also used it for hot cocoa (just cocoa powder, sugar, and water), and that was silky-smooth too. Cleaned easily under running water. Picture is after use. Good value.

I had a terrific matcha today -- thanks to this handy little whisk! This is the first time I have ever used a traditional Japanese matcha whisk. Until now I have only used a small metal whisk, but I am glad I ordered this bamboo one because the matcha was much smoother than I have ever been able to achieve. I guess I've been missing out all these years -- but no more! My matcha tea will be as smooth as silk.

This is a beautiful item. I am in awe of the details. It is made from a piece of bamboo that has been meticulously turned into individual thin strands, each relatively stiff, all curled a the ends. Every other strand is gathered in the center and the whole thing is tied with thread. I was almost afraid to use it to prepare matcha. (I am not a ceremonial tea expert) but it worked just as it should, making a frothy liquid without lumps from my matcha powder. The tea tastes what I think is the right way. In the past, I did get frustrated by lumpy matcha. Very pleased with this little whisk.
