5.0 out of 5 stars A quiet, powerful challenge to the stories we carry
This book is for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of how culture, tradition, and inherited norms are embedded in us—down to the cellular level—and how difficult it can be to shift them. It helped me connect with those parts of myself and realize I'm not alone in this experience. I love how Chanchal weaves profound insights into her storytelling. This book would have opened my mind to more than what was right in front of me—and helped me tune into my own voice.
5.0 out of 5 stars For any woman who’s ready to reclaim her story and move forward on her own terms.
Chanchal Garg doesn’t hold back in "Unearthed". She calls out family secrets, spiritual power plays, and all the messy in-between with straight-up honesty. The writing is fast, clear, and packed with real-life takeaways on setting boundaries and trusting yourself. I closed the book feeling braver, lighter, and ready to redraw a few lines in my own life. I highly recommend it for any woman who’s ready to reclaim her story and move forward on her own terms.
5.0 out of 5 stars For every women who’s ever felt split in two…
This immigrant biography is for any woman who has ever been told to shrink or stay silent in the name of culture, faith, or family. As a child of immigrant parents, I deeply resonated with the author’s story and helped to normalize many of my own experiences both as a child, as well as an adult. Hearing the author’s journey to breaking her silence and reclaiming her voice was beyond inspiring. If I could hand this book to my younger self, I would. This is the kind of story that shifts something in you – if you let it. It has inspired me to continue to honor myself and my inner voice at all costs. I am truly grateful for the authentic and vulnerable way in which the author tells her story, as you feel the pain, struggle, strength and healing through her words, inspiring you throughout. This book serves as a mirror, a map, and a possibility. If you’ve ever questioned your place or felt like you needed to stay silent for your survival, this book is for you. Read it and your truest self will be so grateful that you did.
5.0 out of 5 stars How mythologies shape our reality, and what happens when you talk back to the Gods
This book is wonderful for anyone who is interested in how the stories we grow up with -- our cultural and religious mythologies -- can become woven in the fabric of our believe systems and world views. And then what happens when life tugs at the threads of those stories and starts to unravel them. There comes a point when the author, for her own survival, has to let go of everything she thought she knew, and reality comes crashing down. And she faces that with such courage and grit as she builds the kind of life where she can finally, honestly tell the truth, while weaving newer, truer connections to her family and heritage. Such an inspiration for anyone who has felt like they have to hide or conform to stay connected to family and heritage.
5.0 out of 5 stars Read ithis book if you want to be Inspired to be Brave and Open to More in Your Life
Just finished your book, it was so moving for me! I was enlightened on my relationship with my mother and saw her in an ancestral light that I had not seen before. It helped soften the experience of this specific time we are in. She will not talk about or look at her past. I realize it is not for the faint of heart. Her journey is hers, and how does that enrich and launch me, not judge her, that is mine to ponder. Thank you for being brave, speaking up, and walking your walk. I am consistently amazed how similar the experience of life can be even when the exterior of our journeys are worlds away...I love that about the world and the 3 D experience...of course, a highlight for me was when you got your own "room" office, being home inside us can be so fostered and developed by a physical space outside us...your connection to your grandmother, your devotion to self, your beauty shines throughout the book...Thank you!
5.0 out of 5 stars A powerful reflection on pain, identity, and resilience
Even just reading parts of Unearthed, I felt the weight of it. Chanchal writes with an honesty that refuses to look away from the hard stuff—grief, faith, family, the painful cost of stepping outside what’s expected. It’s a book about trusting yourself when the world tells you not to, about the courage it takes to reclaim your own story. If you’ve ever lived through the extremes of life and found beauty in the breaking, this book might just resonate.
5.0 out of 5 stars A deeply honest book about difficult truths and the liberation in facing them
Chanchal's clear, powerful voice is poured onto the pages of "Unearthed: The Lies We Carry & The Truths They Bury". She has dug into her bones to excavate her complex history and intense emotions. By having the courage and determination to do this, she has widened the space for truth in our world.
