Didn't hurt that it was a true story but don't let that lower expectations for what was a brilliant film on so many levels.

Film was based on a true true story of yes, a man ending up with a penguin, don’t want to give any spoiler alerts away, but it’s eye opening to how it was in Argentina in the 1970’s and has a bit of humour in there too. A good film to watch.

Charming movie set against the backdrop of the 1976 coup d'état by a military junta that overthrew Isabel Perón as President of Argentina, featuring a cynical English instructor who rescues a penguin and is forced to keep it at the school where he leaves and teaches. The bird's presence has a positive effect on the privileged but indifferent students he has been trying futilely to reach.

We thought it was going to be a cute light-hearted film. Once again, Coogan is electrifying in this performance. Loved the film! A little more than lighthearted. Based on a true story.

Thoughtful insight of the1970s in Argentina of a military coup that allowed the abducting citizens without charges and hiding them jail. The penguin allow the connection of people. They overcome the fear of the government and fight for the release of abducted citizens.
