I've scratched my lense before and there's nothing worse than recording memories and finding out that the footage is mostly useless. These covers protect the lenses and they're good insurance to have on your camera. The quality seems good and they'll certainly protect my camera from bumps and an occasional drop. I also like that they screw in place and aren't press on types like my old GoPro. They fit nicely and don't prevent me from using any cases that I have.

Having owned 3 various Insta360 cameras, the X5 is the first for which I've tried lens protectors. When comparing video taken with and without, I see only minor differences that I would expect, and that I have read are common even with the official Insta360 guards. Video quality is very close, if not the same, as without the guards. The only issues, but not unexpected, are a VERY slightly thicker stitch line. It's not enough to be a deal breaker, but is noticeable if you are looking for it. The other small issue, again to be expected, is in direct sunlight some slight lens flare and image ghosting... seeing a slight reflection of the inner lens reflected on the inside of the outer lens protector. Again, this is noticeable, but not bad enough to consider it a problem if your main concern is ultimate protection of the lenses. Especially now that the X5 includes replaceable lenses, I will likely only use these guards when anticipating a high likelihood of damage, but I would not hesitate to do so. Installation is very simple. Just be sure to use the included lens cloth to lightly wipe them, and lightly blow away any other specks before mounting the guards.

Lenses are fine, but these are third party, so the X5 will NOT recognise them. No recognise, no proper stitching. Not really worth the screwed up stitching to protect the lenses. Defeats the purpose of the 360 cam in the first place. If you care for full 360 clean footage and protection, get the real ones from Insta360.

I really wanted to like these lens protectors for the X5, but I’ve stopped using them. While they offer solid physical protection and spin on/off smoothly with a nice, secure fit, the trade-offs on image quality just aren’t worth it for me.The material feels pretty plastic-y, and they tend to catch light flares from odd angles—not just a subtle glare, but full-blown streaks that show up in both photos and video. I’ve also noticed a heavy seam across my 360 footage that’s hard to correct or hide, and I haven’t found a reliable way to adjust for it.They're a bit bulky too, but I could live with that if the image quality held up. In the end, the protectors do their job in terms of shielding the lenses, but the optical trade-offs are enough for me to go without them. Since the X5 has replaceable lenses that are pretty affordable, I’d rather shoot clean and just be careful.

These lens guards fit perfectly on my Insta360 X5. They bubble out a bit away from the lens (I assume this helps protect when dropped). This is a good thing, but be aware, it makes it a little too big for my case. I haven’t created many videos with different lighting, but so far my experience has been positive. I’m not seeing a lot of lens flare or other issues. I imagine you might on a really sunny day outside, but I haven’t been able to test that yet. Overall I’m happy with the peace of mind these lens covers have provided for my expensive camera. I’d recommend to others.

They are plastic, not glass. The curvature is not accurate, this caused the stitching not to properly work, causing a blurred line down the middle of the video. Buyer beware, only get certified insta360 accessories.

I wanted to give this a higher review but I was not impressed with these lens covers. First and foremost they came scratched/smudged before I even took them out of the package and it wasn't something I could just clean off so right out of the gate I wasn't impressed. In doing some testing before and after with them on and off, there's significant distortion from the 360 lens when capturing footage from the side. The installation is simple and they did stay connected to the camera but the quality and degradation of the images captured make me less happy about the product. It sill fundamentally would prevent scratches on the real lenses and if that's what you're looking for this may be a good option for you.
