5.0 out of 5 stars Cute, works perfectly, but small/for smaller kids
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } The media could not be loaded. This is smaller than we expected. My daughter said it’s awkward riding it because her feet/legs are closer together than they were on the standard size hoverboard she had. That said, this works, she didn’t have any trouble riding it beyond the narrow stance on it. I charged it for about 3 hours after it arrived and she was SO excited to try it out, so after dad did some scrolling through his playlist, he found some music for her to give this the full test. Connected to Bluetooth instantly, no problems at all with connectivity. The audio works, gets up to a decent volume, though the sound quality isn’t all that great, but I guess that’s not too important as far as a kids hoverboard goes. Unfortunately this probably isn’t going to get much use with my kids because of the size, but my daughter wants to give it to her best friend for his birthday because his broke and he’s like a foot shorter than her, so he’d be able to ride this without issue. The lights on it work, my daughter thought they were pretty cool. No issues with it as far as we can see, so for smaller kids who can ride these, this would be a great gift. Overall, I can’t complain, it’s a good deal for the price, as long as you bear in mind that this is for smaller kids.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, flashy, and smooth.
This hoverboard was a total win at our house. My kids jumped on it the moment we unboxed it and haven’t stopped smiling since. The lights are super flashy, the Bluetooth speaker adds a fun vibe, and it’s smooth enough for them to feel confident riding right away. The charging brick is a bit bulky, but no big deal—the board itself is sturdy, good-looking, and feels well made. Great combo of fun and function. Definitely glad we got it.
4.0 out of 5 stars Commugo Scooter: A Zippy, Flashy Ride for Kids (With a Couple of Bumps)
Rating: 4 out of 5 starsAs a gift idea for a child who loves being outdoors, the Commugo Scooter with its promise of Bluetooth, lights, and some all-terrain capability sounded like a winner. After putting it through its paces (or rather, watching a young rider enjoy it!), it definitely brings the fun, though potential buyers should be realistic about its "all-terrain" claims. The Good:Pure Fun Factor: This is where the scooter shines for its target audience. The LED lights on the wheels and deck are a huge hit, adding a cool, flashy element, especially as dusk settles. The Bluetooth speaker, while not audiophile quality, is loud enough for a kid to enjoy their tunes while riding.Just Right Speed & Range: The stated 8.5 MPH felt like a good balance – fast enough to be exciting for a child without being immediately terrifying for a parent. The 8.5-mile range is also quite decent for neighborhood rides, trips to a local park, or just zooming around the driveway.Seems Responsive: The 500W motor (likely peak combined power) felt sufficient. It gets going quickly enough from a standstill and seemed capable of handling slight inclines without much struggle.More Versatile Than Basic Scooters: The slightly larger, potentially wider "all-terrain" style wheels did handle sidewalk cracks, small pebbles, and packed gravel paths better than the standard narrow wheels on many kid scooters. This adds a bit more freedom on where they can ride. The Not So Good:"All Terrain" is Relative: Let's be clear: this is not an off-road vehicle. "All Terrain" here means it can handle some non-paved surfaces better than a street scooter. Loose sand, mud, or genuinely rough, rocky ground will still be a struggle or impossible. Stick mostly to paved surfaces, packed dirt, or short, flat grass.Weight: It's not feather-light. While a child can manage it, it's not something they'd easily carry a long distance if the battery died or they needed to transport it over an obstacle.Battery Indicator: The battery indicator is usually a basic set of LEDs. It gives you a general idea, but you don't get precise battery percentage, which can lead to running out of juice unexpectedly on a longer ride.Cost Analysis:Electric scooters for kids with similar speed/range specs (around 8-10 MPH and 5-10 miles range) can vary widely in price, typically from $150 for very basic models up to $300+ for those with more power or features like lights and Bluetooth. Given the 500W motor specification, the LED lights, and Bluetooth feature, I'd estimate the Commugo Scooter falls into the mid-to-higher end of the typical kids' electric scooter market, likely priced somewhere between $250 and $350 depending on the retailer and current promotions. This price seems competitive for the combination of features it offers compared to major retailers like Bolo or Walmart for similar spec scooters.Recommendation:If you are looking for a feature-packed, fun-to-ride electric scooter as a gift for a child, and you understand its primary use will still be on relatively smooth surfaces (sidewalks, paved paths, light gravel), then I would recommend the Commugo Scooter. The LED lights and Bluetooth add significant "cool factor," and the speed and range are appropriate for younger riders. However, if you need a truly robust all-terrain vehicle, this isn't it. As with any electric rideable, always emphasize the importance of safety gear, especially a helmet, and provide appropriate supervision. the specs.Weight: Scooters with bigger wheels and motors tend to be heavier. While not specified, I assume this isn't a lightweight scooter that a young child could easily carry if the battery dies or they need to lift it.Unverified Durability on "All Terrain": While the wheels look capable, the overall construction's long-term durability on consistently rough or "all-terrain" surfaces is untested by me and a potential question mark. How well will the frame, battery, and electronics handle constant vibrations and bumps?Battery Charge Time: (Typical for electric ride-ons, not specified here but likely a factor) Charging could take several hours, limiting spontaneous use after the battery is depleted.Cost Analysis:Electric scooters with 500W motors and features like Bluetooth and LED lights can range quite a bit depending on the build quality, brand reputation, and target age group. Based on similar specs I've seen, this Commugo model likely falls in the $180 - $300+ range. Compared to basic kick scooters (under $100) or entry-level electric scooters for very young kids (often under $150 with lower speeds/motors), this is a more significant investment. However, for a scooter with a 500W motor and "all-terrain" features, the price would be competitive with other brands offering similar performance specs. The value is there if you are looking for a scooter with these features and intend for it to be used by an older child or teen who can handle its power and speed safely.Recommendation:The Commugo Scooter offers some exciting features like a powerful motor, all-terrain potential, and fun lights/Bluetooth at a competitive price for its specifications. However, I strongly advise against purchasing this solely because it's labeled "for Childs" without considering the significant speed and power. This is a scooter best suited for older children (perhaps 10+ years depending on maturity, local laws, and experience) or teenagers who will use it under strict adult supervision and always with appropriate safety gear. If you are looking for a performance-oriented scooter with some extra bells and whistles for a capable, responsible rider, and understand the necessary safety precautions, then it could be a good fit. If you need a simple, low-speed scooter for a younger child, look elsewhere.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift for all ages
This was a gift for my son and it was a huge hit. It was easy to get set up and he used it for quite a few hours right away without the battery running out. The lights on the front are a huge bonus and allows someone to continue using it even after it's gotten dark. This would be a great gift for kids of any age, my son is 17 and loves it. We haven't tried the Bluetooth speaker yet, so I can't say how well it works.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for kids!
As soon as I got this, I charged it. It took about 3 hours (the directions say 3-4 hours). My grandson is 6 years old, and I let him get on it. Of course, he loves it, but he is going to have to work on his balance a bit more. I tested the Bluetooth connection, and it works great. My son tried it out but he's a big guy and it was too small for him.
