5.0 out of 5 stars Best $20 I ever spent!
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } So I did a little research and decided to try the Gamesir Tegenaria. It came today (overnight shipping is awesome) holding the box i wasn't to impressed, but I didn't want to pay extra for a nice package to throw away anyway. Out of the box the controller felt light, but a I started pressing buttons and moving the sticks I was already impressed. I plugged it in and played some COD and continued to be impressed. The buttons have a satisfying click and the hall effect thumb sticks should eliminate the need to buy another controller after I get stick drift, because these shouldn't get it! Everything felt very fast and responsive. The absolutely only knock it will put against it is that the back buttons are not easy at all to map. So I will have to do even more research on it to get full use of the controller. Overall I'm still giving this 5 stars. For $20 you will be amazed!
5.0 out of 5 stars Best wired budget controller
Great controller that is worth way more than its’ pricetag. If you’re looking for a controller that has the ds4 form factor with paddles this is a great purchase.
4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic budget controller... with some quirks that hold it back
There's a ton of competition in the budget gamepad market, and I've been really pleased with GameSir controllers recently. This is the 6th GameSir controller that I've had, and I'm a little annoyed with this one. At this ultra-budget price point, it could beat out everything (including 8BitDo)... but it's couple of quirks. This is a wired gamepad with hall effect sticks and a really nice 90s PlayStation 1 aesthetic. The build quality feels great and it's a comfortable experience if you like the DualShock layout, which I do. One weird choice is that the "Home" and "Capture" buttons are where the "Start" and "Select" buttons should be, while the "Start" and "Select" buttons are at the top of the controller with a much less obvious colored plastic. If these were swapped, it would make much more sense. The smallest complaint that I have is that it doesn't work with USB extension cables. I have a SteamDeck docked to a TV, with a 16-foot USB extension running under a rug to my seat, where I can easily swap out controllers. My 8BitDo Pro 2 wired works fine, but the GameSir Tegenaria Lite doesn't power up. I think this could probably be solved with either an amplified USB extension or a slightly shorter extension. It seems that the GameSir needs a little more power. This is super minor, and you won't encounter this problem unless you're running a similar setup. (UPDATE: I got a 10-foot USB extension, and it works just fine with that.)In normal use on my PC, I've had some issues with the controllers sleep function. I've never had a controller that will power down when not in use. I think this is a great feature, but it doesn't always wake back up. When it does wake up, it's unresponsive. I still have to unplug it and plug it back in, which is a bit annoying. I'm considering picking up a little USB on/off to make it easier.I will caveat all of this by saying that I think I might have snagged this controller before it was intended to be released. I happened to come across the listing on Bolo, and the price/value looked too good. So I snagged one for review. Then the listing went down for a while (it's obviously back now). I've updated initial firmware, but that hasn't really solved either of the minor issues that I've had. It's possible that future firmware updates will make this thing the budget king, but I wouldn't recommend buying one just because it "might" be excellent. If this happens, I'll update this review.
5.0 out of 5 stars Can't be beat for 20 bucks.
A PS style controller, with multiple modes, subtle vibration and remappable buttons. It's very comfortable, all the buttons feel great and it's very easy to switch the modes to whatever you need. This controller is what happens when the dual shock 1 continued into 2025 without motion sensors and touch pads.
5.0 out of 5 stars The GameSir T3 Tegenaria Lite.
The controller arrived exactly as shown in the pictures, and everything in the box was perfect, nothing was broken. The packaging was nicely branded and presented, and I always appreciate manufacturers who take the time to confidently stamp their brand on both the product and its packaging. This is how all quality items should be presented, regardless of how big, small, or simple the item may be. If you're like me, these details matter, don't be thrown off by the color (yellowish tint) of my pics, i have yellow light at home to help with my sleep, but it's exactly as the pics advertise it to be in color and everything. The controller is compatible with PC, and so far, I've played all my games without any issues. I also managed to connect it to my Android device. The design is somewhat ergonomic, considering the retro aesthetic they were aiming for; it’s as ergonomic as a retro design can be. These are just my first impressions. It feels really light but still has decent quality, and it definitely seems to be made of a durable material. The plug-and-play setup allows for instant gaming action. The sticks have anti-friction rings, but otherwise, they are just generic sticks with nothing remarkable about them. The D-pad feels great, but the separations down the middle make it a bit less comfortable; you can almost press all four directions at once. The triggers feel nice, but they have a short travel distance. Personally, I find the start, select, and home/capture buttons to be fine, though some might feel they are placed in awkward locations. I understand they were going for a specific retro design. Overall, I find it to be very comfortable. In conclusion, the controller does an okay job; all the buttons are responsive, and I actually love the way it looks. While the price is very affordable and offers a lot of value, I’d be willing to spend extra for an upgraded wireless model. However, I'm very satisfied with the controller as it is at this price point.
Budget price, works perfectly.
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I often use a gamepad type device for driving sims or flying sims on my Windows 11 PC.Recently my xbox controller has stopped working and I needed a replacement until my wireless controller is replaced. This has works well but is wired only, it feels similar tot he xbox controller and the buttons layout is pretty much the same. For £19.99 this is a great alternative for the much more expensive cousin the wireless controllers.
Comfortable design and highly responsive play
This is a great 3rd party video game controller. I love the shape of it! So many after market controllers these days are geared towards the X-Box style controller; it is nice to have a decent one that takes on the PS format. I have tried a few other 3rd party PS style controllers, but they were complete garbage, not even worth using. So, it is nice to find a controller that is styled how I like, but also high quality. The buttons on this controller are very responsive. They have a nice click when pressing them, not too tight as to not register a button push, but not too lose where you feel like the button might pop off if you press to hard. Of course, everything is a little more convenient when wireless, but you know that this is a wired controller right off the hop. I am in my mid 40's, so I started gaming in the late 80s; a corded controller is not a hinderance in my world; I mean, I grew up with cords. The programable buttons on the back are a nice touch, but I don't use them as I use this controller mostly for PC retro gaming. This controller responds well with all the emulators I have. Whether playing 8, 16, 32, 64 bit — even up to the PS2, this controller responds well and makes the games as fun as I remember when I first played them.At $29.99 this controller is a great deal.Highly recommended1
ID 3537:1093 GameSir-Tegenaria Litejstest /dev/input/js0Driver version is 2.1.0.Joystick (GameSir-Tegenaria Lite) has 8 axes (X, Y, Z, Rz, Gas, Brake, Hat0X, Hat0Y)and 15 buttons (BtnA, BtnB, BtnC, BtnX, BtnY, BtnZ, BtnTL, BtnTR, BtnTL2, BtnTR2, BtnSelect, BtnStart, BtnMode, BtnThumbL, BtnThumbR).Testing ...
