This hydroponic garden is amazing for the price. It’s a very straight forward, Self explanatory set up. Al the settings, are there to see on the screen. I’m planning to grow my orange hat tomatoes in this one, I figure two or three plants. That’s where my only complaint comes in. There’s 13 slots. But it only comes with 5 covers. So, anything (little bugs/flys) can get in the water. Otherwise this is perfect!

I’m a huge fan of hydroponic growing systems since I got my first one at the start of the year. Using a reviewers suggestion, I was able to use the indoor herb garden kit to shorten the germination time for vegetable seeds for transplanting 3x this last Spring. Now at a stage where I need to grow my herbs indoors do to the varmints that love eating the parsley, basil & cilantro in my garden, I decided to order a second kit to still be able to start seeds while dedicating my first unit to fresh indoor herbs all year round. In comparing these two kits, they both have the same adjustable height extensions with equivalent features for lighting modes/timing/pump control, accessories, etc. although my first kit had a better instruction manual. I will admit this kit is easier to read the water level than my first one, but the 5L capacity makes the unit very large, both in footprint and body height. (A minor note is that I don’t care for the industrial look to the piece. I currently have both units on a side table in my dining area where I thought the sight of fresh herbs growing near the table would be casually entertaining for family/friends to see. But this unit has the glowing panel brightly lit on the side that stands out whereas my first unit has all the touch panel controls subtly on the top.) I also wasn’t expecting the significant difference in the triangular sponges. Their tapered shape is much smaller (they hardly fill the basket) and much more difficult to place seeds in ~ especially those of any significant size or quantity. My first system has square, flat bottom sponges and baskets that give me more room to insert most any sort of seed(s). The final and most important note from me: this unit is loud! In comparison to my first one where I want to check if the pump is actually on, I can hear this unit thru the kitchen into the adjoining room. 3 Stars in my ratings = product is as described. Technically the failure of an “Ultra-Quiet Smart Operation” would take another star off, but the discounted price redeems the standing as a good starter kit for those that want to ‘grow’ with hydroponics.

Been about two months and my greens have only grew about and inch, I keep adding more seeds to see if it was the seeds that are not growing but this it the 3rd round of new seeds and only 3 plants have grown an inch out of 10.

I wasn't sure how many stars to give this product, as most of my concerns were with its instructions and packing. The product itself seems to be OK, although I may update this review as I have more time to evaluate its growing results.The packing: When I first opened the box and tried to remove the opaque plastic bag with the product in it, I realized that I'd been pulling it out by the light, which is very thin and looks fragile. This could have been fixed by putting strapping tape around it, or making the interior bag clear. Then because I didn't yet know that the light's height was adjusted manually, I was afraid to pull the light up to take the supplies out of the tank before I'd read the manual, and so I was removing supplies through a narrow gap.The manual: The enclosed instructions/manual had a number of typos, including the word "manual" being spelled "manua" on its cover. The instructions also make it sound like a "professional" should operate the system instead of writing the instructions as a home growing system. Maybe that'll make people pay attention to the instructions better, but the manual should really be rewritten for regular people. There's no brand name on the manual, although the Bolo listing mentions "Xyingshine," which isn't very helpful when ordering supplies. That's not a huge concern though, as a lot of hydroponic supplies on Bolo seem to be similar. The manual also recommends using seeds that are meant for hydroponic systems, which is something people can experiment with themselves. Obviously for people just starting seeds before transplanting them to the garden, that's probably not necessary. Otherwise the light and water pump work, and the price is very reasonable compared to other hydroponic systems on Bolo.Overall value: I may update this listing later as I continue to use the system, but for now it seems to be a comparatively decent value for the cost. The real test will be over winter, when I'm limited to what can be grown inside a warm building.
