5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute best purchase ever on Amazon. Must have for every home.

    e. · April 6, 2018

This is my best purchase ever on Bolo! I have thought of getting an iRobot/Roomba for the longest but was always put off by the price. At less than $200, the iLife seemed like a great value, since it comes with a 12 month warranty and it seems like the company stands by their warranty, based on past reviews. Even if I use it everyday and it happens to stop working on the 366th day, I wouldn't be that upset because that's less than $0.60/day for 1 year of use. I could live with that.I chose to go with the iLife because others have said it works on carpet. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with a mix of medium pile carpet and tile floors. I received the vacuum last night and followed it around the house on it's first journey out of the box. It moves a bit slower over my carpet compared to the tile, but other than that it had no problems getting around. I was impressed with the wheels on it because it was able to easily maneuver over the slight incline in between doorways. Yes it is not as smart as more expensive models with floorplan mapping, dirt sensors, etc. but I just let it do its own thing and it eventually managed to thoroughly clean all rooms in my apartment and return to the base on its own.As far as navigation and edge detection, it seems to do a pretty good job of avoiding obstacles and furniture. It does seem to have more trouble detecting dark furniture as it seems to bump into them much harder, but not bad enough to damage them. I was afraid that it would get stuck under my dining table and chair legs, but with enough trial and error it eventually found its way out.The unit is also easy to clean out and seems to have pretty good suction. Even having recently vacuumed with my Dyson upright, this thing managed to pick up a ton of dust and my long hairs. I also like that the unit is quiet. It is even quieter on carpet. I could probably run the vacuum while I am sleeping. All in all, I am super impressed with this model given its low price point. I will continue to update my review as time goes on.(4/9/2018 Update): for those who have trouble with the robot returning to base, it needs to be placed in a central location with enough clearance around (but mostly in front) of it. When it is returning to base, it will not know which direction to go. It moves around randomly until it is in the vicinity of the base, and then it will recognize that is it there and it will hone in on it. So the base should ideally be placed in the center of the home layout with at least 4 feet of space in front of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most persistent and easily fixable roomba, I’ll never forget.

    F.C.3. · May 10, 2020

I got this roomba back in 2017, mostly because I was lazy. I just didn’t want to vacuum but I wanted clean floors. Over the years I’ve never had to because this thing is able to work 24/7 and while this thing isn’t a A+ student in the precision department. (It will wander everywhere) The little guy WILL wander everywhere and through persistent work just clean everything, pull hair, dust and debris I didn’t even see out of god knows where. It has been doing this since November 2017, and it’s had a good run. It is t dead, no. It “should” be dead, in the years I’ve had to replace the main brush guard twice, the main brush itself three times, the side brushes once or twice each, the battery and finally the left wheel (it gave out recently) and I was able to order replacement parts on Bolo for less than 35$ each.I’ve learned how to (not recommended by the manufacturer) tear this thing down safely and clean it and give it the TLC it needs, it kinda has become the equivalent of an old favorite car or bike that you just know inside and out.In its current last act it is helping as valiantly as it can to keep the flea population as low as possible (cat decided to bring friends inside and I am working furiously to keep from becoming a snack each time I sleep, putting everything through the washer, and cleaning and spraying (it’s going well). This roomba in its own would pick up a flea (which while it isn’t much in flea numbers just makes me feel more attached to this little guy).So I decided to get clever, (another process probably not recommended by the manufacturer coming btw) and out some quick drying adult, larvae and flea egg killer that lingers at the bottom of the dust collector.... let it dry and turned it on.It has been fighting its war in fleas much more effectively. Found two more on its first run and a third on its next. Running it again. So I recommend you do this? Nope! What I’m saying is this little guy has been going on for several years, has been bumped, battered and had parts broken on it and it is still running. I’ve had manual vacuums last less... and do less, although I’ve had them do more and last longer too. The main benefit of this roomba is that if you get to know it carefully and learn how to replace parts and keep it clean it can be your best friend if you like a clean house and hate bugs! The reason I am writing this review is because I’m waiting on another roomba (the a9 version of this one). Will I stop using the a4s? Nah, it will just be retired to cleaning my room only while the new kid on the block tackles the whole house. If you’ve made it this far I fully can recommend this roomba new and from the manufacturer (get it while you can!) and have had absolutely no regrets because this is probably the most sturdy roomba that is keeping a house clean that has three people with long hair, and three cats to keep up with.If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Can’t guarentee a quick response (I work like everyone else) but I’ll try and answer when I am able.

Great performance for a good price.

I bought a Roomba 606 before i got this. The 606 worked fine and i was quite happy with its performance till it started acting up after a week or so. No battery charge was it's problem. Returned it and got the iLife A4s although i was skeptical about the brand. This things works great. Is much much quieter than the Roomba 606, and has a handy remote.Removes more dirt and pet hair (two dogs), than i could ever with a broom. The dogs always bring in loads of dirt and debri and the iLife cleans it up without any problem. Comes with a cleaning brush and two extra rotating sweepers, and opening and emptying out the bin is a snap. well designed and well built for the price. Have not tried it on carpet as don't have one.Highly recommended given the price and performance.

    I love it!

This little guy is a saviour!! Does a way way better job at sweeping up dust than your regular brooms. The only thing is you need a little patience as it takes its own sweet time to clean the house. One of the reviewers mentioned to let vacuum lose a room at a time and that was a great suggestion.I clear the room of all the small movable furniture, shut this little robot in the room to do his job for 20 mins. For furniture that's too low and he can't go under, I sweep out all the dust from underneath before I set the robot lose. For a 2 bhk with 4 balconies this robot works really well. I'm a satisfied customer.

    Good product

    L. · April 11, 2019

Product is good, however ending up using the edge cleaning mode and remote to guide the robot to clean areas. Its good if each area is enclosed to perform auto cleaning at your speed n convenience.

Value for money, took the dive into these cleaning machines since I was frustrated with the cleaning lady who would complete cleaning a room in less than 30s.The first time I ran this around ( post the perceived clean lady), I was surprised by the amount of dust it could collect. I now use this regularly in the eve and ensure my kids sleep in a clean room with no dust breathing through the night. On an average it takes 20 minutes to clean a 250sft bedroom ( just a estimate) and the end of it the room was quite clean ( verified by using actual vacuum cleaner). As expected we need to primer the room by clearing the room from all big objects (like toys, pens, etc) before you run the bot ( it did pick up some chalks from under the bed which my girl lost 3 months ago 😀.The bot does require some attention like cleaning the brushes after every round of cleaning and emptying the bags but this is least I could do for a clean room.Moving from one room to another was not consistent but I prefer putting the bot in one room with closed doors and allow it to do magic for about 20 min before moving it to the next room. For now 5 stars will revisit this comment in a few weeks and actual usage

Amazing product! I do not like the idea of domestic help as the wages are not regulated and do not know if the prevailing rates are fair. Thus, I clean my apartment on my own. At times, it becomes tough due to extreme work pressure and time constraints. I came across the robot and purchased it. I can tell you that my apartment is always clean now and with almost 20% efforts.Pros. Effective, programmable, easy to use, easy to clean, quiet operation, has a cute personality:)Cons. NothingAll in all... Full value for money.
