Our old gutters and downspouts were not doing a great job managing rainfall, and I wanted to protect the foundation better while also making use of the water by connecting the downspouts to rain barrels. Replacing the downspouts meant I needed a dependable way to secure them to the house, and that’s where these downspout straps came in.The straps themselves are straightforward in purpose — they hold the downspouts firmly in place against the wall. What I appreciated most was how well these straps accepted paint and primer. Because we were repainting the entire exterior, including fascia trim, gutters, and downspouts, it was important that the straps wouldn’t stand out or look out of place. After applying primer and then the final coat, the straps blended in almost invisibly. That was a big plus for maintaining the clean, cohesive look of the home exterior.Installation was easy and typical of downspout straps in general. They’re simple metal bands designed to wrap around the downspout and be fastened to the wall, so there’s not much complexity. In fact, part of the appeal is that they’re low-profile and don’t attract attention — they just quietly do their job holding the downspouts steady.The durability of the straps feels solid. Since downspout straps mostly serve a passive role, they don’t undergo a lot of wear or mechanical stress. Still, these straps seem robust enough to handle the occasional bump or tug, and they hold the downspouts securely. Given that downspouts can get moved or loosened over time if the straps aren’t strong, this was reassuring.One thing worth mentioning is the hardware that comes with the package. The seller includes some plastic anchors and screws that, frankly, felt underwhelming. For installing into stucco, those plastic anchors aren’t very useful, and honestly, I didn’t use them. For anyone mounting the straps on wood trim or siding, you likely won’t need anchors anyway; screws will do the job just fine. It’s good to have the hardware in the box as a basic option, but I wouldn’t rely on it exclusively, especially for more demanding surfaces.Overall, these straps hit the mark for what they’re designed to do. They install quickly, hold firmly, and blend in well with the rest of the house. They don’t call attention to themselves, which is exactly what you want in a component like this. You expect downspout straps to just be there doing their job, and that’s what these deliver.For anyone looking to replace or install new downspout straps as part of a larger gutter or drainage upgrade, these straps offer solid performance without fuss. These downspout straps are good value because they include the screws and anchors. They are easy to install and easy to use. Build quality is excellent, good metal and fit the downspout very well. They hold the downspout securely to the building therefore functionality is on point.Only small complaint is that the color is a darker brown than the brown downspouts that all the big box stores sell in my area. See my photo to illustrate the color difference. It's not a problem for me but if you are a stickler about the color matching the downspout, then you might want to choose something else.
