5.0 out of 5 stars By far the Best Film of 2025
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I honestly cannot say enough good things about this film. In my opinion, it's not just the best film of 2024, it is the best film in decades. On one hand, it is an historical drama, containing absolutely brilliant cinematic magic that transports you back to 1932, watching some technological "firsts" such as the transition between "twins" that is so seamless, you absolutely forget there's just one actor. On the other hand, it is a supernatural horror film, and on the other hand (yes, I know I only have two hands, but bear with me), it's ultimately a film filled with metaphors, and hidden gems. The acting, the direction, the script are simply put - perfection. Oh...and it has incredible music with one scene that was foreshadowed in the opening narration, but it was played so beautifully that I wanted to jump out of my chair and just scream "Oh hell YES!"So, if you haven't seen it in the theater, go see it in the theater! If you have missed it in the theater, rent or buy this movie. You will not regret it. Well...you might. I mean, not everyone is going to like it. If you 1) hate historical dramas 2) hate supernatural horror 3) or hate music, then you won't like it. But if you like even one of those three things, you need to see this.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent movie
This is a real tour de force of story, characters, horror, and social messaging. All the cast are set up really well in a film that confidently and competently rolls out the exposition in a natural manner. When the horror part happens, it is also really well-paced, especially when it comes to the action, and has some appropriately eerie and eye-catching parts. I'm rather pleased that this takes a common supernatural threat (I'm not mentioning it if you haven't seen the second trailer yet), and looks at it from more of a "mysticism" lens. The movie does a wonderful job of weaving together messages and story. Since this is in the Jim Crow south, of course racism and the treatment of Afican Americans is a definite component, but it never feels like this is a movie focusing on trauma, but is about the people living their lives and a testament to black culture. When it comes to main messages in this, I'm not going to spoil anything as part of the joy of watching this is being made to think about what the movie is trying to say.Excellent casting all around in this. No surprise to anyone, but Michael B. Jordan gives a terrific performance. He does a great job of making each of the twins separate characters with separate personalities, storylines and wants for each. Musician and acting newcomer Miles Caton also gives a really solid performance as the Smokstack twins' cousin, musician Sammie Moore, a guy who loves his music and looks up to his more dangerous cousins. Caton gives a very real performance, and is sort of the core of the film.Jack O'Connell is also a lot of fun as the main villain Remmick. Director/writer Ryan Coogler (Black Panther/Creed/Fruitvale Station) could've gone with a one note monster with him, but he is surprisingly affable and three-dimensional (while also being an uncomfortable threat when the scary stuff happens), and his main goal may surprise you.Wonderful cinematography (including three REALLY well shot moments that steal the show). The movie is shot in a way I'd describe as "stark" color. Not darkly lit, but it has a harshness to it. Coogler and the cinematographer and editor do a solid job of having Jordan act opposite himself. The threats in this look appropriately off-putting.Music is a real focal point of the movie, and Sinners makes great use of songs and a stand-out score by Ludwig Goransson. The one thing about this film that may not work for some people is that the introduction is very long. It suitably sets up the people and place, but one could get bored.Highly recommended. This is one of those movies where everything works and really drags you in. This is one of those rare horror movies like The Menu or The Substance that transcends being merely just horror.
5.0 out of 5 stars Happy to get my first LE Steelbook...
EVEN THOUGH IT WILL PROBABLY LIVE IN MY DVD PLAYER FOR A WHILE!!!Lmfao I love how low vibration individuals are so bent about this movie they're reviewing the DVD that hasn't come out yet. I'm so glad I saw the restock before they sold out AGAIN!!! Because you know the movie sucks so bad and everything. 🙄
5.0 out of 5 stars Guaranteed Classic, worth every minute
One of the best movies to come out in a long time, I've watched it 6x in the theater and now to have it in my home, I'm just as excited as when I first saw it. The negative reviews are lame and based on rash opinions of what they believe it should be, the movie doesn't preach but enlightens to the true history of America and the truest monsters which aren't mythical. The pacing is masterful and allows you to get to know each character and bond with them before the ultimate end, even with Remmick, you get an understanding of what and why he desires Sammie, though he believes he is helping he robbed these folks of their community just as his was taken. This is black history... this is American history.
1.0 out of 5 stars Sinners 10/10 Amazon delivery so lacking.

5.0 out of 5 stars MASTERCLASS!!!!!!
Standing Ovation worthy!!! Best Film of 2025 and I have seen it 4 times. WE, whole theater was engalfed in storyline & characters all the way (Bo, Mary, Annie, Delta Slim, Grace & Cornbread's relationship to Smoke/Stack Twins tugged on your heart, just as well as main Character) ALL of them deserve an Oscar for superb acting! No Joke! Especially B. Jordan, though, he had me seeing him as 2 different people the whole time. Forgetting one person was playing them both. Coogler did it again - first Creed, first Black Panther, now Sinners! Whew wee!
5.0 out of 5 stars As Always
This movie was so much more than a "basic" or " boring" "vampire flick." It included history that many want to forget or deny that's very much rooted in the DNA today but noisy important, it tells the story of how music connects us both pay and present and for those who felt it... understood exactly what it meant. For those who didn't get it. Didn't connect to it. On any level, well, it wasn't for you.I loved it. Ryan Coolger and his cast were terrific!
5.0 out of 5 stars Sinners!
My favorite movie of the year thus far! I can't wait to own it!
