Absolutely great!!! If you want a camera with no subscription & want to view live footage and look at past footage without paying this is the brand has been so reliable and easy to use. Easy to install and easy app. Love how clear it is and I can hear sound and has a light & alarm if wanting to arm. I also love how it comes with the homer base so you can get more cameras if need.

The best part of this system is that there aren’t any pesky monthly fees associated with it.  Set up is super simple.  Download the app, plug in the home base, scan the code with your camera.  This IS HomeKit compatible but the integration is lackluster at best.  That’s more a fault of HomeKit and less on Eufy.  You’ll get better quality video if you use it standalone with the Eufy app.  The battery life on the cameras has been impressive.  One of my cameras is mounted to a window for testing and the solar panel does help noticeably.  I wish this integrated with Home Assistant but it doesn’t (not easily at least).  It’s really designed for a one stop shop, set it and forget it type of security which is fine.  It does well at that.  If you have a little more elaborate needs and customization, this probably isn’t the kit for you.

I've been genuinely and profoundly impressed with the Eufy E40 security cameras since their installation. The image quality is nothing short of excellent, consistently delivering crisp, highly detailed, and vibrant footage during daylight hours. What truly distinguishes these cameras, however, is their MaxColor™ Night Vision capability. This feature performs surprisingly well even in challenging, low-light areas, rendering vivid colors and maintaining remarkable clarity of crucial details like facial features and small objects. This exceptional visual fidelity, even after dusk, provides a significant and reassuring layer of peace of mind for comprehensive outdoor security. Furthermore, the cameras are designed for exceptional ease of setup and use, allowing for rapid deployment and intuitive operation, even for those new to smart home security.A paramount advantage, and a truly impressive aspect, is the efficacy of the built-in solar panels. Since installation, these panels have consistently maintained the cameras' batteries at a full 100% charge, demonstrating a robust and reliable sustainable power solution. This solar charging functionality is working precisely as advertised, eliminating the need for manual recharging or cumbersome wiring. I will, of course, provide an update should this performance metric change over extended periods.While the cameras come with standard mounting hardware, I opted to utilize alternative mounts due to specific requirements to avoid drilling into certain surfaces. I'm pleased to confirm that these third-party mounts have integrated perfectly with no compatibility issues, providing flexibility in placement. It is an important consideration, however, that the Eufy E40 cameras are a bit on the heavier side. Therefore, ensuring that any chosen mounting solution (whether included or aftermarket) is sufficiently robust and securely anchored is crucial to support their weight reliably.Aesthetically, the Eufy E40 cameras boast a sleek, modern, and minimalist design. Their contemporary appearance allows them to blend seamlessly into a clean home setup, avoiding the often-obtrusive and conspicuous look associated with more traditional security cameras. This subtle integration maintains your home's curb appeal while enhancing its security.Overall, I am extremely satisfied with these cameras. As my inaugural venture into outdoor security solutions, they perfectly complement and expand my existing Eufy smart home ecosystem. The compelling combination of no recurring monthly fees, secure local storage, and consistently reliable performance makes them a truly hard-to-beat option in the competitive home security market. The Eufy SoloCam E40 strikes an impressive balance between convenience, smart features, and local data control—making it a strong contender in the battery-powered home security camera space. It’s particularly appealing for anyone tired of subscription fees, thanks to 8GB of built-in storage that holds about a month’s worth of motion-detected clips, assuming typical usage.Setup is refreshingly straightforward: download the app, sync the camera via a QR code scan, and you’re good to go. It connects directly to Wi-Fi, no base station required, and once installed, it begins recording 2K color video during the day and switches to crisp black-and-white infrared footage at night. While there’s a mild fish-eye distortion, it doesn’t impact overall clarity. The 130° lens offers a generous field of view, and the built-in AI does a great job distinguishing humans from general motion, even displaying thumbnails in the event log for quick identification.Physically, the E40 is one of the larger battery-powered models, but it still mounts easily using the included ball-joint bracket or can be used freestanding—though the latter limits your ability to angle the camera. The housing feels solid and weather-resistant, suitable for outdoor placement, and the LED indicator helps signal battery charging status. One drawback: the camera charges via micro-USB and doesn’t come with a wall plug adapter—just a cable. Also, the battery is non-removable, so expect up to eight hours of downtime when it’s recharging.Smart home integration is solid, with support for Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing live view access from compatible displays. Unfortunately, there’s no Apple HomeKit support. While it doesn’t include some bells and whistles like a built-in spotlight or swappable batteries, it’s a smart choice for anyone who values simplicity, privacy, and avoiding monthly fees.
