The moment I cracked it open, my daughter grabbed the animal molds like she was curating her own petting zoo. She dumped the squishy gel bits in the tray, added water, and BAM! Tiny squish critters started forming like some next-level science experiment. Kid was beaming like she just made magic in real time. The instructions were simple enough that even my nephew, who usually zones out during crafts, actually followed along. He got real into mixing the colors and matching them with different molds. There was a unicorn that came out looking like it went to a rave, and a frog that somehow turned purple. No one questioned it—we just cheered him on like he was Picasso. The kids started trading their weird squishy creatures like Pokémon cards. It became this whole thing. What I liked most? It’s not just another sit-and-watch toy. This thing made the kids move, think, create. I saw them problem-solving when the shapes didn’t come out right the first time. They’d adjust how much gel they used, mess with the mold position, even debate if the water temp was “messing up the vibe.” I ain’t even mad at that—it kept them off screens and totally dialed in.The cleanup took a minute, but honestly, worth it. I’d rather wipe down a splashy table than referee another screen-time war. Plus, all that joy over some squishy little blobs? Can’t fake that kind of fun. If your kid’s got some imagination to burn and a love for slime-type stuff, this kit’s gonna light their day up like it’s a craft party in a box.
5.0 out of 5 stars Slime Squad Science Lab Pop-Off
The media could not be loaded. This kit had my living room lookin’ like a mini science fair real quick. My niece came over, and I handed her the box, and next thing you know, we got colorful goo blobs forming into animals, stars, and some blob I’m still trying to identify. You pour the gel into the molds, dunk ’em in water, and like 10 minutes later—bam, you got squishy creatures floatin’ around like jellyfish in a cup. I didn’t expect it to be that fun, but here I was, a grown adult, acting like I discovered some next-level art project. What had me crackin’ up was how seriously she took the whole process. Gloves on, reading the instructions like she was mixing chemicals for a NASA launch. The set comes with tons of gel colors and different mold shapes, so you’re not stuck making the same old dolphin a hundred times. She mixed some wild colors and made what she called a “fairy-lion,” and now that little dude’s sittin’ on our fridge like a trophy.Cleanup wasn’t bad either—no glitter mess or sticky fingers stuck to the table for life. We laid down a plastic tablecloth just to be safe, but everything washed off easy. And if your kid’s the type who bounces between activities, this one actually held her attention. She was in her zone for over an hour, makin’ molds and naming every weird critter she made. It even sparked a little storytelling session with her imaginary underwater kingdom. I’m not mad at that. The best part? It made her feel like she was creating something from scratch. Not just pushing buttons on a tablet or zoning out on a show. She was hyped to show her parents the “aquarium” she built. If your kid likes artsy stuff or even if you just want a hands-on activity that doesn’t involve screens, this one brings the fun and a little chaos in the best way.
5.0 out of 5 stars colorful
This was a fun kit to bring to the kids during a long day of babysitting. I used a separate container though, so I can keep using the clear bin to hold all the bottles and molds. The pieces become more durable the longer it sits in the solution, which is important for the fishing game so they don't break off the ring. The squeeze bottles had nice narrow tips which made it easy to fill the molds with the different color gels. It hasn't hard to layer and make the design details.
5.0 out of 5 stars Magic gel
This was a fun activity for me and the kids. I was shocked that it really worked. It comes with everything you need and so many different colors and molds to choose from. Fun for a family night!!
4.0 out of 5 stars Great entertainment
Kids love it! Not as messy as I thought it would be so bonus points for that.
5.0 out of 5 stars The fishing poles is a very nice bonus!
We've been through a couple of these sets with the grandkids but this by far is the best. The fishing pole really does it. These are a messy project and there really is not much you can do with them after the excitement of making them. If you leave them out of water they dry out. If you don't clean and change the water every day they turn to mush. So, the fishing aspect really adds to the fun. The pole is super cheap and broke after while but I had other poles from other games so they continue to play with this set. There is a LOT of the goop. I would like to have seen more fish themed molds. I mean who goes fishing for butterflies and watermelon? The storage box doubles as the container for making the gellies and then you can rinse it out and fill it up with clean water and use if for fishing. After the shapes comes out of the mold they need to sit in the solution for a good 20 or 30 minutes to solidify. Then they shrink up and get fat. Don't waste your time trying to color in details like an artist. The stuff is too goopy so just have fun with it. The set is nicely boxed for gifting. This review is for the product listed as, “Nicella Magic Water Elf Toy Kit." (with fishing pole and rings)
