The only thing I would point out about the product is the instructions could be a little bit better explained but still functional. So far I have been able to digitize a handful of my cassette tapes from the 80's with no discernible issues or complications. I most definitely would recommend this product to anyone looking to digitize their cassette collection into that of a common audio format (MP3).
5.0 out of 5 stars Compact player works great
Nice, compact little tape player for my children to use! Sound is great and it’s easy for all to use.
4.0 out of 5 stars Decent cassette player at under $35. Some design flaws could've been avoided.
This review is for the SEMIER Cassette Tape Player with MicroSD card. This turned out to be a decent cassette player for my needs. I wanted to get back to listening to cassettes because I have a large collection of old cassette tapes and I didn't want to just throw them away. They're very personal to me.Now, what I THOUGHT this device was, was a cassette to mp3 converter. I guess the inclusion of a microSD card made me think that I could play the cassette tape and it would be recorded onto the microSD card. That is NOT the case. You cannot "back up" your cassette tapes. The microSD card is only there for voice recordings, which is fine, but this device is kinda clunky, so I'd rather just use my phone. I did not penalize my rating for this device due to my misunderstanding, because that was my own fault. The sound from this player is decent, although the speaker is fairly small. It's fine if you're doing other stuff and you want to have some background music while you work.I took off 1 star for two reasons. I was hoping at this size that there would've been a built-in rechargeable battery, especially since there is a USB-C port. From a design standpoint, it would make sense that the usb-c port helps to charge the battery. The 2nd reason is that the front amber-colored plastic is really dark, so in normal indoor lighting conditions, you CANNOT see the cassette tape inside and you CANNOT tell how much tape is left or in which direction the little wheels/gears/knobs are spinning. Honestly, if I had known that the cassette tape was not visible, I would not have bothered with this device because the main point of having physical media for my audio is to physically see the material.Anyway, this device works exactly as advertised, so if you like what it's advertised on the page, go ahead and order it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Mix Tapes, I’ve missed you
For those of us who were around for the golden age of mix tapes, the Semier cassette player is like a time machine. My beloved mix tapes that have rested in boxes for decades suddenly have new life, and the hours of effort put into making them can be appreciated once more. The unit is basic, and pretty bulky if you were a user of old-school cassette players. You have recording controls on the front, just below a small speaker, old school manual buttons on the top for the cassette, a manual notch opener on one side, and the volume, power, audio jack, Micro SD slot and tape/microSD selector controls on the other side. There’s a slot on the back for 4 AA batteries, which have provided good playtime so far (remember when you didn’t have to charge your devices every single night?!).Use is simple - pop in your tape, and press play. Audio quality is just what you remember from cassettes - this was not a hifi format. There’s no Dolby NR or the like, but that’s where the Micro SD and modern audio software come into play. Recording to the SD card is simple, and the included mini CD has the Audacity software you’ll need to take your raw recordings and turn them into something you can listen to on your other devices. Pretty awesome.Overall, this is a great value for the price - it works well, and can help bring a lot of great memories and sounds into the modern era.
5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed to convert my old audiotapes
This item has been on my wish list for a while. I had several audiotapes of my sister and I from our childhood that I wanted to convert to a different format. I am definitely technologically challenged, so I was intimidated by the process, but so glad I went ahead and tried this. I had about 15 tapes to convert. Fortunately, the tapes were still in decent condition. The conversion process was fairly easy. I just had to add the memory card, rewind the tapes, press play, and then record. The recording automatically shut off when the tape ended, so I did not have to babysit the tapes. I found the process relatively straightforward and I liked that everything I needed was included in the box. Converting the audiotapes to a digital format was something that had been on my "to do" list forever. This inexpensive item made it easy for me to finally check it off my "to do" list and have access to my recordings.
5.0 out of 5 stars A great way to save your tapes to digital
I was so happy to receive this to review. As a old dj from the past I had numerous cassettes with club live mixing sessions I wanted to preserve and t to convert to digital format. So this little gadget does the job!. Do yourselves a favor and read the instructions before using. Make sure you format the micro sd card to match the files..it works great! And inexpensive!
1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and doesn’t work
Didn’t work right out of the box. The SD card recording just says “NO SD” after trying many different SD cards in all formats. This thing is not worth it.
