I usually start around noon when the sun is strongest, and without any airflow, I would end up dripping in sweat within minutes. I wear this around my neck while mowing, trimming bushes, or watering the plants, and the airflow makes a big difference. It’s quiet, so I can still hear music or podcasts through my earbuds, and it doesn’t get in the way while I move around. I use level 3 most of the time, which gives me good cooling without draining the battery too fast. The cooling plate in the back is also a bonus — I didn’t expect it to feel like a cold press on my neck, but it actually helps a lot when I’m overheated.The battery holds up well, lasting me almost the whole day with intermittent use. I charge it overnight so it’s ready the next morning. One thing I noticed is that the arms feel a bit stiff when adjusting them, so it takes a bit of fiddling to angle the fans just right. Also, if I bend down too far, the fan can shift slightly out of place. Still, for someone working outdoors in hot weather, this makes the workday more bearable.The build feels solid, and the buttons are easy to find and press even when I’ve got gloves on. I’ve dropped it once on the grass and it didn’t get scratched or damaged, which was a relief. I like the way it holds its shape and doesn't swing around while walking. It’s not something I thought I’d need before, but it’s become a must-have when the temperature spikes.It’s been holding up well through weeks of yard maintenance, and I find myself reaching for it anytime I need to go out under the sun for long periods. It’s made a noticeable difference during summer chores.

The instruction sheet for the MGUP Neck Fan with 6 Adjustable Levels is 3 pages per language and has very small font making it hard to read. It comes with a 31.5" long Type C USB charging cord and requires a high power 5V/2A charger, but one is not provided. A single digit in the display flashes during charging and counts up as charging progresses.Separate buttons control the cooling and fan functions. An aluminum refrigeration sheet sits against the back of the neck and has 3 cooling settings (C1/C2/C3). The instructions include a frostbite warning, although I never felt the sheet get too cold even on the C3 setting. The cooling plate works well, but it is concentrated on the back of my neck. I would rather have dual pads on either side of my neck. It does feel good, though.The fan has 3 gear settings (F1/F2/F3). At gear F3 the neck fan is quite loud and normal conversation is difficult. F1 and F2 are quieter and the airflow is sufficient for most situations.I do like the neck fan. It is heavy and well built with 2 flex joints on either side of the rear cooling section. There are 3 fans total, one in the rear and one on each side. It sits very comfortable on my shoulders and never feels like it is going to slip off. It definitely makes yardwork and gardening more tolerable on a sunny day. It is bulky though and will not prevent sweating, so if you like to use your upper sleeve to wipe sweat from your brow, you will need to remove this fan first.My wife likes the fan as well, but thought it needed a front strap to keep it from falling off. There are 2 recessed areas in the very front that could hold Velcro pads with a fuzzy band connecting the ends. This could easily be done by the user if they felt it was needed. I think the fan is just fine as is.I do feel that if a high power charger is required though, then one should have been provided.

I'm impressed with this semiconductor-cooled neck fan. It has 3 wind speeds and 3 cooling speeds. The big, triangular cooling plate got to as low as 63 degrees Fahrenheit according to my infrared thermometer (my room was 78 degrees). At its highest fan speed, my phone measured 73 decibels. The fan and cooling plate can be used independently of each other.At max fan and max cooling, I was draining the battery about 1% for every 1.5 minutes, meaning that you'd get about 90 minutes of runtime.Like any wearable tech, the fit of the product is very personal. However, I'm impressed that it has two, flexible rubber "hinges" that allow it to easily slide on and off your neck. For my small neck the fan feels a bit big (loose), because I don't feel the sides of the fan against my neck at all. Yet, I like that I can still feel the fan output against the side of my face quite well.Altogether it has three fan output vents -- two upward vents (one on each side) and one downward vent, which is somewhat unique in the sub-luxury neck fan class.The fan charges via USB-C. A USB-A to USB-C cable is included, but a power adapter is not. While not specifically called out in the product literature, my testing indicates that both the fans and cooling plate can run continuously when charged into an external power source. This means that even if you were outdoors for a long time, you could plug it into a power bank for more run time.This fan is neither the quietest or coldest I've tested; more expensive models are still better. But for the price class (premium but not luxury), I'm quite impressed.
