I cant comment on the Ugly Stick or Reel since I wasn't able to use it. When received the rod was crushed and all the eyelets were either cracked or flattened. I wish they would have used a better box. The rod and reel look really nice, unfortunately I'll never know how it performed.

Great bang for your buck. Always been a fan of Penn and have never been let down before. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the Ugly Stik holds up against larger fish, though I guess not too surprised since that’s what they’re known for. I’d be happy to have 10 of these combos and that’s coming from someone who does a lot of fishing.

The pole itself is absolutely beautiful, exactly what I was looking for. I took off two stars because the reel came damaged, most likely occurring during delivery.
