This is a very nice matcha making set for beginners. Everything is high quality. It is packaged elegantly and securely with molded foam to protect all the parts.I was surprised that the chawan (tea bowl) is actually made of porcelain! you can see the light shine through the thinner parts of the design...that makes it much higher quality (see photo). Also the whisk has a lot of tines which make for a foamier cup of matcha and it fits perfectly over the whisk holder.I didn't realize from the photos but the little black stand for the scooper is actually mountains with wavy line design, and much prettier in person and made of ceramic.I took 1 star off b/c the bowl itself was noticeably lopsided (see photo). It appears to be machine-produced, so probably when someone picked it up to put on drying rack, they didn't bend it back to a perfect circle. Personally, I don't mind that as it gives it more of a handmade, wabi-sabi character.You really don't need any of these items to make matcha. You could just use a regular whisk or frother. But by using these items you go from making a quick cup of tea to slowing down and making your matcha experience ceremonial and mindful, and therefore more opportunity to enjoy. Anyone who receives this gift will feel very special, even if that person is yourself!Only the speckled green color was an option for the Vine Voices item, but I think the white, pink or black would make a prettier contrast with the bright green tea.

I was initially very happy with the purchase. I liked the colors and all the components of the set, but the stainless steel sifter, the component I was most interested in, broke during my 2nd use.

The matcha set is very cute!! Only reason I took down stars is because the strainer broke after 1 use but will still be keeping the set.
