This is especially difficult to find in sheet masks, as they often have fragrance, which is a known irritant and one my skin is sensitive to. Thus, I was excited when I saw this pack of four sheet masks billed as calming and appropriate for irritated skin.I decided to try out the mask after two days of a mild rosacea flare--thanks to this awful heat wave, I'd been experiencing redness/flushing and developed one large, angry red pustule on my cheek (for those of you with rosacea, yes, I'm type 2). I got out the mask and decided to see if it would indeed calm my skin. After putting on the mask--which took some getting used to, more on that shortly--I was pleasantly surprised to see the flushing gone and the pustule smaller and much less red and angry! When I woke up the next morning, the pustule was GONE, so this calming mask is definitely very effective!The mask is also very moisturizing. It doesn't have any type of paper or plastic backing to it and is absolutely LOADED with serum/product, so it is a little difficult to get it out of the package, open it, and apply to your face--it's very gooey, and the parts of the mask can stick together (just take your time and carefully peel it apart). When I took off the mask after about 20 minutes (I left it on a little longer than it says to), there was a lot of product left on my face. I gently patted it in but still had a lot left over, so I rubbed that on my neck--a nice bonus. When I woke up the next morning, my skin was still very moisturized and had a wonderful glow, which again speaks to the quality of this mask.One final note: I ran the ingredients through Beautypedia, and the ingredients came back with ratings of "best" or "good." That also speaks to the quality of these masks, which are indeed fragrance-free.

I am a face mask user. I really enjoy using them. I have tried a LOT of them over the years. Even ones that are just so-so in what they deliver, I still really like, just for the pampering experience. It is rare when I come across one that really, really stands out. This is one of them.Firstly, the mask itself is deeply impregnated with the product. I am not sure how they did it, but it seems to be one of those materials that is capable of really holding onto liquid, enabling it to carry much more of the serum. Therefore, when you apply the mask to the face, it will not dry out.The serum is very slick and slippery. It instantaneously feels deeply hydrating. The product page states it is cooling: √ check! It also states that it is soothing: √ check! It also claims to lock in hydration: √√ double check!! All of that aside, it just feels so nice to have on the skin. It is very comforting.It feels wonderful afterwards too. The skin feels soft, hydrated, and just looks refreshed. I imagine it would be a great mask to wear after a day in the sun, at the beach, in the garden, after some harsh, dry, hot winds. I imagine it could heal the barrier after such harsh situations. It is a very effective product.There is virtually no slippage. As I said, I like the pampering side of using masks. Therefore, one of the qualities that takes away from the experience is having to constantly adjust the mask. This one sucks right up to the face and stays. Period. I love it.

I've tried many sheet masks over the years, but this Dr. Althea Cushion Veil Calming Mask is easily one of the most unique. The material is very different from the typical cotton masks and looks and feels like an ultra-thin slice of a konjac sponge. Because of this unusual texture, the mask tends to stick to itself, which can make unfolding and applying it a bit tricky. Even when I thought I had it fully opened, I’d still discover folds stuck together when putting it on my face. That said, the unique material actually works in its favor when it comes to fit. It hugs the contours of my face well, especially around the nose. With standard cotton masks, the section over my nose often lifts or flares out, but this one stayed in place much better. But the mask is quite slippery, so I highly recommend layering a silicone mask over it to keep it in place during use.My skin was a bit irritated when I tested this mask for the first time, so I did a patch test first and was pleasantly surprised when I didn’t react to it. Once applied, the mask didn’t sting, which was a relief. The only exception was a small area where I had an eczema flare-up that stung slightly, but the discomfort faded quickly after I washed the serum off. That said, for general irritation, it really does live up to its 'calming' claim. Just keep in mind it isn’t as cooling as advertised.After using the mask, my skin felt hydrated and moisturized. While it didn’t deliver dramatic improvements, it did provide a solid boost of hydration. I’d consider it a reliable basic option, especially on days when your skin is too sensitive for other masks.Lastly, this is a generously saturated sheet mask. There’s plenty of serum on the mask itself, and even more left in the packet afterward. I easily have enough leftover to use for an additional three to four days.
