I had a very weak and under weight guinea pig that refused to eat the oxbow critter critical care when I had to syringe feed him for under weight due to teeth problems. So I did some research and found this food and he absolutely loved it. I mixed it with a little water and some non sweet apple sauce or vegetable baby food, and he ate it. It's a great change from oxbow since it's so grainy and hard to get your pet to eat. My bunny’s adrenal tumor impacts his appetite for pellets and hay so the vet said to syringe feed him, gave me this during the period when Critical Care was unavailable. My bunny, who was losing muscle, is now close to where he was before. He is an extremely picky eater and loves this. I probably couldn’t have forced food 3 times a day for months, so having him happy to eat it is huge. It’s keeping him alive and I’m grateful to have it. When I first open each bag, it smells like apple. If you’re having issues with your herbivore eating, definitely give this a try.

I got this for my guinea pig who was refusing to take his liquid medication. I tried mixing the medication with this, but he still refused to eat it. However, it did come in handy when he stopped eating his pellets and hay. He just wouldn't eat it when the medication was mixed in it, which is no fault of the product. It's easy to mix up and the smell isn't too bad.

This stuff is great. We tried it as an alternative for our guinea pigs when we couldn't get critical care a few years ago. All our rescue guinea pigs have preferred the taste of this. We always keep some in stock and I wouldn't go back to critical care again unless I was in a similar predicament and this was out of stock! Recommend anyone with guinea pigs or rabbits keep this in stock for emergencies. It never goes off!

I have a chinchilla who has been dependent on Oxbow Critical Care. When it came time to order more, I couldn't seem to find it anywhere. The more my current supply dwindled, the more frantically I searched for a source to buy some more. Long story short, I tried ordering from several places, only to have my orders canceled because there really wasn't anything in stock. I got online and found this stuff listed as an alternative in a rabbit owner's forum. I was desperate. I decided to give it a try.The first thing I noticed when I opened the bag is the color. It was a nice rich green. It smelled fresh - no overpowering fake apple/banana or licorice smell. I make it a thick pasty consistency and she eats it our of a condiment dish. It absorbed the water quickly and thickened up nicely.The real test was the chinchilla. She is a very picky eater. As it so happens, she loves it! She devoured every last bit and even licked the bowl. I have already ordered more and I'm seriously considering switching over to this completely. I'm going to give it a week to see how well she tolerates it. Definitely 5 stars. I couldn't be happier.

This was great! My rabbit is in recovery from GI stasis. She won't eat the Oxbow critical care as a paste, but this one she ran to and ate all of it off the plate! Which is great, because if I don't have to syringe feed her and she'll eat it on her own--I much prefer that.

Our vet recommended this for our guinea pig when we couldn't get Oxbow critical care formula (supply chain issues). I found it easier to mix & dispense from a feeding syringe (the Oxbow didn't seem to mix quite evenly and the last cc would be very hard to push out). Peanut thinks it's delicious. He'll eat it even when he's feeling crummy, and when we were just trying to get a little more weight back on him, he absolutely gobbled it.
Worth having on hand in case your guinea/ rabbit gets poorly!
This is the only syringe feed my guinea pigs will actually eat form the bowl themselves! Perfect for long term use as anyone with previously poorly buns or pigs knows it’s very stressful fighting them to syringe feed multiple times a day! Highly recommend. Brought my poorly old lady from 890g up to 940g in less than a week!

Anybody who's had a guinea pig knows that they LOVE eating. But I've never seen our guinea pigs enjoy food as much as this! We're feeding the Emeraid to one piggy as prep for her surgery later this week. She's mostly lost her appetite, so it was really nice to see her going bananas for the Emeraid. I don't give much to the other two, just a bite or two ... but they also go bananas. Seems like this stuff is "catnip for guinea pigs." Which is a huge relief because it is not fun trying to feed a sick pig without an appetite. Glad we gave Emeraid a try, highly recommended.
My boys love it!
Couldn’t have asked for a better product!! My boys both love this. It has helped one of my boys gain a little weight and I have purchased a second bag to help my little man through his surgery. Mixes with cold water really well, I just wish the quantity to give per weight was a bit clearer on the packaging.
