Firstly, there's a Beginner mode, where various parameters (max height, max distance, max speed, controller sensitivity, etc.) are set to keep you safe. As you become more comfortable, you can easily choose other pre-set modes and/or adjust these various parameters individually. Secondly, taking off and landing would normally be two of the more difficult operations, but both are automatic with the touch of a button. Similarly, the Return to Home feature/button could always be used as a "panic button" and may offer some psychological relief for the more timid. (That feature causes the drone to fly itself back to its last take-off point.) It's fun to fly, even for beginners. There is a *lot* of included reading to do before you fly, especially if you're new at this (like me). After spending 15 minutes with the Quick Start guide, I had so many questions that I wouldn't have dared to fly. I then spent several evenings reading through the entire user manual and found it answered all of my questions (including ones I hadn't even thought of yet). I highly recommend reading all the documentation before flying, even though you'll be dying to try the drone out as soon as it arrives. The required, downloadable free app is laid out well and easy to use. Since your phone (with the app) is physically connected to the drone remote controller with an included cable, there is no detectable lag displaying the drone's view on your phone. From the app, you have access to the user manual and can open support tickets if/when you have questions or run into issues. In sunlight, it can be hard to see both my phone screen and the display on the remote controller. When I can see my phone screen, it's hard to see the remote controller display and vice versa. Fortunately, most information and capabilities are available on both screens, so view either your phone or the remote controller display, whichever one is more visible. (Note that the image being captured by the camera is only viewable on your phone screen and not the remote controller display.)I love the sturdy, compact carrying case. It holds everything tight and secure, and includes room for a second battery, a charging brick, manuals, cables, etc.Lastly, the support staff are fantastic. They reached out to me shortly after my purchase to encourage me to contact them for anything at all and to demonstrate their eagerness to help. We did end up exchanging some back-and-forth e-mails when I had problems with the rapid battery charger (which was part of the bundle I selected). I'm pretty sure they are based in the U.S., since their written English is excellent and since their response time is so fast. It took four or five back-and-forth e-mails with two or three different support personnel over the course of a week to verify the charger was faulty. Their responses came within just a few minutes most of the time, an hour-ish worst case. My responses were what dragged it out for a week, as I'd sometimes ignore their most recent response for a day or two. They were happy to replace the charger once we confirmed it was faulty.
5.0 out of 5 stars Learning Curve For Beginners, BUT WORTH IT!!!
This is my first drone and jumped in head first. Long story short as I can...pairing with the GPS can be DIFFICULT, but once learned, it's easy. You NEED to register it with the FAA and take a FREE safety test online. Using google search type registering your drone with the FAA and the rest is not that hard to follow. You do need to pay a $5 fee for three years registration. You also MUST dl the air aware app along with the Ruko Pro app. Reason for the air aware app, is that when you are ready to fly your drone, opening the app, will lyk if the area that you're in has been cleared by the FAA in REAL time.I also recommend that you order FREE stickers (no cc or ANY info like that) to put your registration number on your drone (through pilotinstitute), which is REQUIRED by the FAA. I am waiting for mine and used a label maker in the meantime to get this accomplished. After all of this, pairing and setup was the next step. Turn the drone on, then the controller. move the L stick up and then then down and 2 tones, along with a white light on your controller, will lyk it's paired. Immed AFTER this step, is where I got confused and it took me a while to figure this out.You then need to pick up the drone and rotate it litterally in a circle 2 times horizontally (till the back lights become solid, then place it down), then pick it back up again, with the camera facing the ground (vertically) and again rotate it 2x in a cirlce until the front lights turn solid, then place it back on a flat surface again. At that point, you MUST connect it through your phones wifi. Go to your phones wifi list, find ruko in there and connect it. Once you do that, open the app. It will NOT finish the GPS pairing UNTIL you open the app and click on controls towards the upper right corner of the app. You will then see the view from the drone camera itself and you then know that you're gtg!!After that, move BOTH thumb sticks at the SAME time towards one another (the left goes bottom R, 5 o'clock position and the R stick goes bottom L 7 o'clock position) which starts up the props and your FINALLY ready for flight. My personal opinion for the drone itself is FANTASTIC!! First time flyer I thought I could easily use it in my SMALL back yard in my residential neighborhood. Big miscaluation on my part. Learn from my error and go to a empty parking lot or field UNTIL you get the hang of it. I CRASHED my drone 3 times in a matter of 15 min and almost hit numerous trees and power lines!!I thought for sure that my drone was toast!! Especially AFTER I HIT my own lamp post in my back yard. While there are a few nicks and dings (not too bad), to my surprise, it STARTED RIGHT BACK UP EVERY TIME AND CONTINUES TO WORK PERFECTLY!!! I was SHOCKED to say the least!! What a STURDY/WELL MADE piece of equiptment!!! My complimence to Ruko for making such a well built drone with SOLID electronics and pieces. After realising that I should not press my luck any further, I headed out to a baseball field and learned how to operate it properly. It took about and hour or so, but I got so competent with it, that I can NOW fly it in my small back yard with ZERO issues. I even know how to take pics and adjust the camera in flight. It has an auto follow feaure and auto land, which is why going through the difficultuy to pair it with the GPS is SSSOOO important. I crashed in my yard those times because I got frustrated, not being able to figure out the GPS pairing and flew it at that time, bypassibg this important step.Other than that, the camera is excellent, the drone itself is obv solid, and it's feaures are plentiful. This also includes being remote ID compliant with the FAA, by having a built in transmitter that constantly broadcasts your drones ID, speed, heading and so on.It comes wtih TWO batteries that provide 30 mins flight time each and are recharged via USB-C and the remote controller is charged the same way. My advice, is to buy the extra landing gear with the extra caps in the package and buy extra props as well.I also recommend buying an extra RC controller that you can find on Ebay (new) for half the cost, especially since it is sold out from Ruko. I am so impressed by this drone, I am going to buy the same exact one to have as a backup. It's nice to see a company (esp from China) put out a solid product of this QUALITY. Worth EVERY penny!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great flying experience even better Ruko in-app support
This little drone is surprisingly easy to maneuver. It doesn't fly as fast as you would expect a drone to move but I am glad I dont have to worry about it darting off into a tree or fence. The drone is well tuned for stable shots and panoramic views. The gimbal is the main contributor to that effect but the stable flight enhances the whole experience. I dont recommend using it indoors unless you feel real confident., the blades are exposed and these motors really spin up fast and makes a lot of wind noise.I do feel surprised at how small this drone folds up into, for the amount of power it has and the pictures/videos it can take, its a really well put together product. We plan on taking it on our next vacation to capture those aerial shots and birds eyeview we wouldn't normally get. The carry case easyly fits in a backpack and it's so light. So as a beginner and drove phono enthusiast, this is a well put together package. All that being said, after my 3rd flight, feeling a lot more confident than I should have, I crashed it! I think it was a combination between a comm glitch and unexpected wind. Either way, I originally purchased the Asurion accidental plan and it totally paid off 🙏 As long as you send the flight log, which is conveniently stored in the Ruko app used to fly it, Im sure to verify the drone stayed within the range parameters. The warranty and support function is right there on the first screen which made it very convenient to gather the info needed to complete the claim. The whole process was simple and got a new drone mailed to me the next day. Must recomend!
Easy To Use, Fast, Stable and FUN!!
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } The media could not be loaded. I love this drone! I tried 2 of the holy stone models years ago, and they were so complicated to set up and they controlled horrible in any wind. The Ruko F11 Pro is amazing! Handels great! Even in the wind it’s able to maintain stability and speed! Takes me less than 30 seconds to set up and fly each use. It’s so cold outside so I keep running back to the car to warm up then right back at it! The 3rd speed setting is so Fast! Love how easy it is to control and how smooth the video recording is! Can’t stop using it! Overall, good buy! Best drone for the price other than the DJI’s. Buy this for your first drone, 100% Recommended. If you want top of the line camera, expect to pay much more. I’m happy with this quality for now. Don’t even care about not having a gyro. Love the movement for sport flying!
Not good quality and little customer service
This drone was good, initially. It is now out of warranty but has done very little flying IE less than 3 hours in total. The remote controller no longer works. The battery will not hold charge. Ruko will not do anything about it even though its like brand new. They tried to inform the warranty was only 6 months. They offered to sell me another controller but given this experience, and the cost, I don't think so. Not a good quality product.
Awesome drone!
Super easy to set up once you have downloaded the app and followed the instructions, flying wise it’s also easy once you get the hang of the controls and adjust speeds. The “TRH” feature is nice also, if you loose sight of the drone you can tell it to return home.I like the turn camera up and down feature so you can hover above something and look down at it, camera quality is also good.Battery life is also good, I’ve flown it in cooler weather which will obviously affect flight time, average was 25 minutes. Will test in warmer weather to get the maximum flight time out of it. Overall super impressed with the quality of this drone especially for the price, would recommend!
Ruko customer service helpful
I like the product when used it flying came with easy instructions to set up. The cons is not much repairs stores in Australia to fix damage on this model drone. The pro is the customer service from Ruko are helpful and quick to respond to enquires. Also that there is tutorial videos on how to set up and repair damaged drones.
Great picture quality
For the price this product is great beginner drone. The picture quality is great. One battery seemed to charge longer so the seller replaced with no hassle. I would recommend this product.
