Either I got a used pot or it is poorly made. For my pot there are many signs of careless/poor quality. The brass isn't cleared off or smooth on the screws. The rubber on the handle feels glued by hand, the finish on the inside is also dirty and scratched. Also, the pot is uneven. The packaging is full of foreign language and seems to be made from a different country. It makes me question the safety and authenticity of this product.

Please search for yourself by typing something like "brass cookware" into any search site and get tips you can use. There's a wide variety of ideas you need, including possible toxicity of brass.Also note: I am not disappointed because I was concerned about harming the decorative value of such a beautiful piece. I'm still thrilled with it, although I won't be using it for food or even water. I'm cautious about things like this.Original review, minus comments about cooking with it:This does not disappoint, not at all. It isn't low-priced, but who would expect that? It's sold and heavy and beautiful.It is too nice to use every day. The photo is identical to the piece, so judge for yourself. Even if you don't have other Indian items, I think it blends well with anything.It can be an important highlight of any room, in authentic hammered brass. You can't go wrong.

Really nice looking pot, really well made.If you’re willing to pay $64.99, you’re probably willing to treat it well. I never cook on high. I’ll have to check myself on leaving food in it overnight.I’d like to keep teflon out of my life, I like ceramic cookware, and I’m happy to change my habits to accommodate materials, like brass/tin, that I haven’t used before. And I’m happy to have a functional work of art in my kitchen.

This brass pot has become my favorite pot to use. It heats up so fast and cooks things much faster than any of my other pots. Plus it is so beautiful that I actually leave it out on my stovetop as decoration. Very easy to clean, I just use a wash cloth.
