I don't know if they make good paperweights, but as magnifiers, they are great. I intend to use these over small LCD screens to make eyes for Halloween props. I've seen old paperweight magnifiers and the have a raised lip to lift the glass off the surface. But those were a little distorted and I don't notice that with these magnifiers.

These look exactly as pictured! Simple, clear, half-dome magnifiers make good knickknacks or decorations.You'll want to keep any kind of magnifier like this out of direct sunlight, where it could burn something if focused properly. It comes with a warning (sort of) to that effect in the box. But no complaints! They arrived scratch- and chip-free (styrofoam packing).

When I unpacked these from their plain box printed only with the manufacturer's name, I was concerned that they would be of a low quality, but they're well crafted and crystal clear. The packaging could be better because the bubble wrap between the smaller set had slipped out and they were sitting right against each other.Having two sizes of these domes is nice depending on where you need to use them and what your subject is, but the magnification power of both are the same. I placed them flat on a dime and on a receipt to show the magnification of the two sizes side-by-side. I'll probably be using them most to read small printing in manuals and books, or to look for details on small objects.This is a good set. I'd recommend using only one of each size, and keeping the other pair put away in case the first set breaks or gets scratched.

I received a set of four paperweights and gave two to my husband. He agrees that these are very handy as well as pretty. The bottom edge is very smoothly polished, and the text you sit it on is perfectly magnified. Just a nice handy tool that is also attractive on your desk.

I have several large posters that have been stored rolled up for many years. It is hard to get photos of them for online listings. I needed something that would weigh them down unrolled but that didn't cover any of the poster. These are perfect for that task. They are heavy enough to weigh down the corners but allow anything under them to show through. Would definitely recommend for this purpose.
