One thing I like about this is that thought went into the shape. It fits your hands well and the bar is the right thickness as well as the right width to allow you to either pull or be pulled comfortably to standing. Plus being small enough to tuck under the bed or couch makes it easy to have nearby and means it gets used more, which means less likely of injury to the person needing assistance. The plastic is smooth and there are no rough spots. There is no chemical/plastic smell to it.

You don’t think about what you need until you have to take care of an elderly family member or a family member that might have gone through surgery and cannot get up on their own. I personally think this is a better design than the belt, as long as they have enough strength grip onto the bars, you can get them up, instead of bending over with the belt and hurting your back.

As long as the person you are trying to assist up, can reliably hold on to the side handles, this item is great.If you have a family member who can stand, but needs a helping hand to get from a sitting position, or maybe even out of the car, this is much better than trying to grab them by the arms or wrists, which can cause skin tears or injury.You just have to be on alert for their grip, and make sure it doesn’t loosen.This also works great as an alternative to the gait belts. Those can be a bit undignified for the one needing help, and the caregiver has to take the time to put the belt on.In case the patient needs to get up quickly, it doesn’t get much easier than this.

This is one of those things that you didn't know you needed. When helping someone up, I sometimes can feel like I don't have a good grip on the other person's hands. This eliminates that concern for me. I'm able to firmly grip one side of the device while the other person grips the opposite side. This bar feels sturdy, and using it feels more stable compared to having someone grip my hands. The person is pulling on the bar rather than pulling directly on me, and the bar itself creates a bit of space between the two of us, giving the other person some room to stand. It's big enough to allow the two of us to grip it comfortably, but since it's small and flat, it's easy to store it out of sight until it's needed. I keep it in the space between the couch and the side table, where it's needed most often. Highly recommended!

October 29, 2024:A device like this "Lift Standing Aid" is very useful for helping a person with limited mobility to stand up with another person's assistance. I wish I'd had this available sooner.Since the person being assisted participates in the effort, it might help the person feel less of a burden. Since the device may be used without direct physical contact, it might seem less of an infringement on one's personal space. It lets the person feel like they have more control over the activity.The plastic seems very durable; not brittle. The handles are curvy for comfort and textured for grip. It's lightweight and of a moderate size; about 10 x 11 inches.The product page describes it as having "customizable height settings" which is not accurate; there are no moving parts.If used as intended, this assistive device should last. I would recommend it to friends and family.

My father is able to safely walk once he's standing, but it's hard for him to get from a seated position to a standing one, especially when standing from deep couches or exiting vehicles. This standing assist device gives both him and the lifter a secure wide grip, making it easy to hold and pull. Unlike holding onto a couch arm or car door frame, this allows him to reach out directly in front, which is more stable and balanced. It's a great aid to help his sit down into cramped spaces as well. It's small and portable. I usually just keep it in the car because that's where it comes into use the most.

This product is made of heavy plastic with grips on either end and assists others getting them up with help.I feel this is made with good quality material I was not successful in helping my elderly client up safely. This is a simple device that provides a massive amount of assistance for the patient and the caregiver. This is made very well and constructed of a lightweight plastic. This device is easy to place in a nightstand or in a side table next to a recliner to have readily available. My 92 year old mother has difficulty getting up sometimes on her own. Although she is tiny and only weighs 89 pounds, that’s still too much weight for me and my sisters. This device will be a back saver for all of us!
