I got used to using the utility frame with X4 so it was a natural choice to use it for X5. Main use is for cycling, I use the handlebar bike mount, the camera moves around a lot over bumps (fortunately the video image doesn't) and that felt too much of a stress on the tripod socket on the bottom of the camera. The utility frame clamps the X5 in place firmly and has its own tripod socket on its base. Adds a very small amount of weight but feels much more secure....and if my X5 is going to bounce down the road for any reason the body of the camera has a better chance of survival secured in this frame. Maybe.PS This frame is specific to X5 and will not fit X4.

I have already used this utility frame more on my X5 than the previous versions I had for my X4 and X3.It is surprisingly lightweight. I have been doing alot of recording with a selfie stick mounted to a Best360 backpack, "floating" above me like third person drone footage. As I ride (on bike or scooter), I often smack low tree branches. Because of that, I started using this frame.Thanks to the Fotoleey case I have now, which has a place to store this frame, I can keep the frame on the camera at all times and store it in that case. Now I use it pretty much all the time.It also makes the camera look cool ;-)They also have the side mount under the lens so if you mount it that way, like on a chest mount, it will be centered. That is a nice bonus.I have not obtained a quick release yet, but it has the slots for that. Looking forward to trying that out, next.

I have tried two different third party cases before trying this one. I should have bought this from the beginning. Fit is perfect and much higher quality. The magnetic mounts work so much better than the other ones. Glad I got this and I feel way more comfortable when it’s hanging off the bike at any speed. Highly recommend.

I broke my X4 because I mount it to the front of my bike and eventually all the bumps broke the mount in the bottom. I got an X5 and this frame to put the stress on this frame instead. It seems to be doing a great job but the HUGE plus is it has built in wind socks. It works extremely well, for my purposes at least. Does a good job until 30-40 mph?

Perfecto para la insta360 X5, se ajusta sin causar demasiada fricción al ingresar la camara, pero la sujeción es perfecta, adicional trae unos perqueños cortas vientos o espumas para poner en el marco y reducir el impacto del viento sobre los microfonos, una excelente opción adicional que ayuda a cuidar la camara en caso de una caida.

Good quality frame
The frame is very good quality and I am very pleased for how sturdy it feels. I will use it together with my x5 when is mounted on helmet or places where it has to be protected to shocks.
Cold shoe does not accept GoPro
I purchased this thinking the cold shoes would accept the GoPro adapters that slide into their shoes. But it’s too small.
Must use
Super strong. Gives good coverage. Dropped the X5 with the case on in cheddar Gorge on rocks and case only got scuffed. Then in Peak district I was driving at 50mph with the camera mounted on the rear roof of the car using insta360 mount. Mount fell off. X5 needed one lens replacement but the camera body itself was fine as the case took a beating. To my surprise, the case is still usable! Really glad I had it on. Great value for money.
