5.0 out of 5 stars Challenging puzzles
My 13-year-old son loves this. He enjoys solving challenging puzzles and there are a lot of them to choose from. The pieces snap together easily so there is no struggle. All of the pieces stay in the gameboard so you don’t have to worry about losing anything. Cubes are various colors. It is a great product for people of all ages. This is perfect for challenging your kids' thinking. The price is not too bad for the amount of use that you can get out of this puzzle.
5.0 out of 5 stars So fun!
Super fun! We love all the Kanoodle series, and this one is cool. It took us a minute to understand the way to put it together for each puzzle, but once that happened, it was lots of fun for our elementary aged kiddos to play. Good variety of puzzles for replayability.
4.0 out of 5 stars Cool concept
This is a pretty cool concept of sudoku. It comes with a nice storage container and a high quality thick booklet showing quite a number of puzzles that range from easy (4x4 cube) to hard (5x5 cube with fewer starting positions). The idea is that you complete it but only using each color once in each row.The reason I took 1 star off was that it is very hard for me to decipher some of the colors being color blind, they are not very distinct to me. They look different in the book vs the blocks but my wife doesn't think it's a problem. Also, the fact that they have to click together makes it a little difficult. I think it would be nicer if they were solid cubes that fit into slots or something like that. Aside from that, it's a good game
5.0 out of 5 stars Good brain game, need to scan a code for the solutions
My 10-year-old son likes the original Kanoodle, so I got him this Educational Insights Kanoodle SudoQube for a new challenge. This got his attention, and he played with it for quite a while when he first got it. He solved the first puzzle board pretty easily in a couple sessions of play, but he said the puzzles were getting harder at the end. The second board will offer another level of difficulty. One of the things I like about this is that you have to scan a QR code for the solutions. My son sometimes has a tendency to peek at the answers when they are available, so I usually hide them. With this, he has been able to tell when he had the puzzles right and so far has not needed any hints. The game pieces and game boards are nicely made and durable. I think this is a good brainteaser for kids and even for adults. Recommend.
3.0 out of 5 stars Pieces don't snap together right
Its okay, the reason for the 3 stars is because the pieces don't fit together smoothly most of the time. In addition the dont.slot into the game board making it harder to place pieces. I play these kinda of games for parkingson's and I was disappointed in this one.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fun twist on sudoku that feels different and new
I got one of the more standard Kanoodle puzzles as a Christmas gift. It was so neat to be introduced to this creative puzzle brand, but I have to admit I'm not very good at those types of puzzles. This kind is more what I can do, with it being similar to sudoku puzzles. Yet, it's different enough that it still feels fresh and different from playing sudoku.A welcome feature of this game/puzzle is that it's self-contained, and everything stores inside. One side is for easier puzzles, and the other side is for more pieces/harder puzzles. The book this comes with has such a nice, quality feel to it, and is even stitched together. That was something that really struck me since the book is an important part of a puzzle game like this, but not always given as much attention as the game pieces. It tells you what pieces to build first, and then those are what are used, with some of them being pre-placed. I like that the extras fit inside the box/game, even while playing, if the smaller puzzle side is being used. There are some things puzzle players may find a bit frustrating.I find it hard to remember which puzzles I've completed. A suggestion is to take a scrap piece of paper, write down 1-100 on it, and then scribble off when you complete a puzzle. I did this and am using it for a bookmark. It also helps to keep the book open to the puzzle you're working on, because it can otherwise be challenging to remember which pieces aren't supposed to be moved. The pieces needing to snap together as you play (not just the starting pieces) may prove cumbersome for some. I've found I can kind of work around it, for the most part, and skip that step. But it might be nice if they connected in some other way, where the joins would not be in the way. Finally, at least with mine, the box does not close very well or tightly. I would like it even better with latches and a hinge.Despite these issues, I still really enjoy the game.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great brain teaser
I had an app that had these puzzles, but i completed them all. I've since introduced them to my kids to help with problem solving. Now they love to try and understand and complete these. It's a blast for the whole family, especially when we introduce timers. Great fun!
Nice twist one a classic
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } This is a surprisingly well thought out and self contained game that's great for kids. It's like sudoku but with colours and you get a fair sized booklet inside that has various starting set-ups based on difficulty. My wife found even the most difficult ones pretty simple but they proved to be perfect for my 9 year old.The whole thing is self contained in a plastic box that also serves as the "game board", though unfortunately the booklet doesn't fit in there as it's too chunky!
Hands-on Puzzle Game That Challenges and Entertains
This puzzle game is great. It's a wonderfully tactile, well-made puzzle game that is challenging, fun and rewarding. It's perfect for all ages too.You get a tray containing 25 colourful plastic cubes and an instruction booklet which has 100 different puzzles that gradually increase in difficulty. It makes it great for beginners and experts and means you can learn as you go through the booklet and challenge yourself to more complex puzzles over time. The case could be a bit more secure as the lid doesn't stay on that well but otherwise this is very well made and durable game. It’s ideal for anyone who enjoys logic puzzles or Sudoku-style games, but wants something more hands-on and visually engaging. At £15.99, it’s very reasonably priced and would make a fantastic gift, or a fun treat for yourself. Highly recommended. I'm having a lot of fun with this.
Good quality logic game
This game comes nicely packaged in an attractive, brightly coloured box. Inside is a plastic black box holding 25 plastic cubes of five differing colours. It feels robust and of good quality. There is a comprehensive instruction booklet with 100 different puzzles. This can be played alone or as a joint activity. It certainly tests logic and problem solving skills. At the current price of £15.99 it is probably priced about right and I would recommend it either as a gift or something to use yourself.
Not a very good storage box but a great sudoku like puzzle for children
This Learning Resources Kanoodle SudoQube is such a good idea and is a variation of sudoku but with coloured cubes. The toy has 25 cubes which come in a plastic storage box. Each of the cubes have two sticky up bits which can attach to any of the other sides of the cubes. The instructions book has 100 puzzles which you have to put the cubes together into the shown shapes before using them to attempt to complete the sudoku but with coloured shapes. This is pretty fun to do and even I enjoyed having a go but it does get repetitive and easy after a while. The cubes are well made and easy to use. They are a nice mixture of colours and are designed to be suitable by all ages. The box it comes in is disappointing as the lid doesn't stay on very well. It would have been better securely shut with some clips so that it could be taken on the go as if the box was better it would make a great travel game. This is a fun puzzle like game and we've enjoyed trying it out. It's a great way for children to learn sudoku in a fun way.
Sudoku with a twist
This is a great variation of a sudoku using coloured cubes it comes with a coloured instruction manual that has 100 different puzzles to complete that get harder as you progress through the book. Only negative I found was that the box lid doesn’t stay on when closed so I have to use a large elastic band to keep the lid on
