5.0 out of 5 stars Detailed posters with lots of good information
I got these posters for our homeschool classroom. I don't have much wall space to display these so I tend to rotate the posters based on what we are learning for science and this pack was perfect, it covers many basic and important topics in a clear visual way that pairs really well with the other science materials we use. The material is simple cardstock, but that's not a big problem as I don't plan to tape them to the wall or anything that could damage it upon removal, instead I put them in a magnetic poster frame and put them back in the envelope they came in when we're done. If I had to put these up in a classroom and take them down at the end of the year I would likely either get poster frames for them, or laminate them because I don't see it being durable enough to use year after year, but given the price I also don't think that's a huge deal given how many posters you get in the pack for the price. Overall its a great deal and I would buy more sets in different subjects if they had them.
5.0 out of 5 stars Covers basic Earth science concepts
I could pick at a few of the details (I wouldn't choose a moon count for one of the outer planets because that goes out of date quickly. Saturn is already inaccurate.) But overall these will work for my 4th and 5th grade gifted students as we study the solar system this year. These are good for vocabulary building and showing relationships between different concepts. I use these as references and as an illustrated word wall. They're printed on sturdy cardstock. I would laminate these if you hope to use them for several years.
4.0 out of 5 stars Minor errors, but otherwise good deal.
As posters for kids to look at, these are a nice quality paper, easy to read, and lovely in appearance. However, these are science posters, so accuracy of the information on them is a critical component.I'm going poster-by-poster to evaluate accuracy:Earth's Atmosphere: The layers are in the correct order. Their miles and temperature ranges do not match the ranges I found for these layers when I look it up except for the temperature ranges of the Troposphere and Stratosphere. The example objects are within layers where they can be found in reality, though many can be found in multiple layers. They use the more technical term Radiosonde for weather balloons, which has pros/cons, though I do think weather balloon would be more appropriate for this poster. Overall: Very mixed, but layers in correct order.Rock Cycle: A bit puzzling to follow, and I almost missed that they included Weathering and Erosion in the poster since no arrows point to or from their label. However, otherwise seems more or less correct. The Sun: Everything matches up with what I can find online, including the current official number of planets.Weathering, Erosion, & Deposition: This overlaps with the rock cycle poster. There's really not a ton of content on it, but it does better explain the differences between weathering, erosion, and deposition, and I see no errors on it.Volcanic Eruption: This all looks fine. It could have more detail on some things, but it appears accurate. The Earth: Mostly accurate. I find it odd that they specify that 1 orbit = 365.25 days, but not that 1 rotation is actually 23 hrs 56 min and 4 seconds. You think if they went for extra accuracy with one, they'd do it for both. The Moon: The poster shows the moons perpendicular to their normal orientation for the phases, which does not make sense to me. The shadow is typically on the left or right, not bottom or top, when viewed from Earth. The direction of the phases is also shown counter-clockwise, which is a bit confusing for those of us used to clockwise layouts. It also uses "Last Quarter" instead of "Third Quarter". NASA uses "Third Quarter", but I see "Last Quarter" in other sources, so I guess it's more preference. Everything else appears accurate.Earthquake: All good from what I can tell. The Water Cycle: Deposition is the opposite of sublimation, but it's not clear from the graph that there is no liquid stage of the transition. They do not separate infiltration (water entering ground) and percolation (water moving through ground). The ground water zone includes both the saturated and unsaturated zones of rocks/soil.Solar System: Saturn outdated: It has 274 moons as of March 2025. Very minor differences in details for some items. Includes Pluto, though mentions it was reclassified as first dwarf planet.Earth’s Structure: Mostly correct. Some differences in miles where Crust/Mantle border is between poster and what I can find online.Plate Tectonics: Mixes labels for compositional (mantle) vs mechanical (lithosphere and asthenosphere) layers of earth. Otherwise seems fine.Overall, I definitely don't see this as a 5-star item with the multiple errors across the posters. However, the errors are not likely to cause problems for future learning. Most kids are going to focus far more on the labels and order of things than specific numbers. The posters are very affordable at 12 posters for $12.98, particularly with the 30% off coupon, and they do look nice. I think it's a good deal, generally.
