5.0 out of 5 stars Great TV for the price

Picture quality is great with vibrant colors. Audio output to my soundbar is incredible. The interface is snappy without any lag. The screen is bright enough for a room with some outdoor light. Setup was very easy and I appreciated the easy to install footstands, which required no tools or screws. The remote is unique and charges via solar, so it has to be kept facing the right direction. It remains to be seen how well it will stay charged with ambient light, but it can also be charged with USB. I don't particularly like the up/down audio/channel buttons. It is awkward having to slide the buttons up and down rather than directly press them. I find myself inadvertently muting the volume a lot.I was considering a comparably priced TCL with better raw specs, but I opted for the Samsung. Compared to another TCL Q series I own, the Samsung is more polished, less glitchy, and has much better upscaling and motion processing. Since I watch a lot of sports, this is very important. You'll need to adjust the judder reduction to your liking. Somewhere in the middle (3-6) works best for me.There are a few caveats. First, this is not a high end OLED or Mini LED TV. You should not expect the performance of a TV that costs twice as much or more. HDR is adequate and surprisingly good for the price, but not stellar. The viewing angle is not the best, and the TV lacks some features (it is only 60hz) that may be important for some. The picture needs some calibration out of the box. At first, dark scenes appeared a little washed out, but I was able to fix this by lowering shadow detail slightly. Here are the settings that I found work best:SDRBrightness: 45Contrast: 50Shadow Detail: -2Gamma 2084: 2Tone: Warm1Color Booster: LowBlue Light Reduction: OnContrast Enhancer: OffHDRBrightness: 50Contrast: 50Shadow Detail: -2Gamma 2084: 2Tone: Warm1Color Booster: LowBlue Light Reduction: OnHDR Tone Mapping: StaticContrast Enhancer: LowI was considering splurging for a higher end model, but I am glad I didn't. This TV is perfectly suitable for general use and will make most people happy without breaking the bank.
5.0 out of 5 stars I am turning into a Samsung fanboi
For quite awhile Samsung has made the best and most vibrant screens. Their UI is fantastic and in using this TV, I am very disillusioned to ROKU and their ROKU-TV's. I won't buy those anymore, but Samsung... definitely!! This was at a good price point, and tho the screen has amazing color saturation... I wanted the OLED. Honestly though, I hope this QLED lasts me for a very long time - I am not disappointed.
5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite
I've had a lot of tv's over my lifetime and this is my favorite. The setup was simple, the navigation and streaming options were great. Even allowed me to connect my soundbar the first time! The picture quality is amazing, especially at this price point. Will buy Samsung again
1.0 out of 5 stars Dark edges on all sides (vingetting)
This model Q7F has dark screen on all four sides, a phenomena which I understand can happen if the design//manufacturing process results in defective lenses or light pathways.. (Look up "vignetting" for a fuller explanation.) I called Samsung, who said it was a problem with the motherboard and sent out a technician who got on the phone with some Samsung expert who then decided it was the panel that needed to be replaced (in addition to the motherboard or instead of the motherboard wasn't clear) so the best thing to do would be to just replace the set. So Bolo sent out a replacement, thank you, which we installed only to discover the same problem. Called Samsung and did the same video diagnosis (so Samsung folks can see exactly what happens when I do what they tell me to do--same thing they'd done when their tech guy was on site for the first one--and they suggested I return it, again, for an AMZN replacement, thanks again Bolo. This third one was just like the first two, so I'm sending it back today, too. AMZN's been great though all this; Samsung still seems to be in denial, so I don't think ordering another one, or buying from Best Buy will have a better results. (Turns out--I checked last week--Best Buy doesn't sell this model locally, maybe because their buyers see they same thing I see when they turn it on.) If Samsung shows me a solution, I'll be happy to revise this review, but for now, it's been a real waste of my time.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good value, lacks optical output, has slow apps.
Great screen and colors. Ok menu design but slow loading of apps. No optical so not compatible with Sonos without an eArc converter which I had to purchase. I replaced the flimsy cheap remote that is not compatible with IR devices like Sonos with the previous generation IR remote and I can easily control the TV, Apple TV, and Sonos with it. No need to buy into the Samsung symphony (yet) since my Sonos has a lot of life in it still, but I’d consider it for tighter integration and not having to use the converter and free up an extra hdmi port in the process. The TV tries pretty hard to sell you subscription services for partner channels like all TVs these days, and quite prominently shows the Fox News App which I will never open. But aside from that, it works great with my Apple TV and has a feature that remembers which device was last watched, so when I power on it starts on the Apple TV each time. There is a game mode which I don’t use but has a bunch of cool options and changes the menu system. I think it was moderately worth the price but wish there was a way to turn off all the advertising. For a simple setup it’s Ok, but lacking optical in 2025 is quite a fail. I wouldn’t change my decision because I’m quite technical and have a background in audio and IT so can work around the limitations, but for an average person the lack of features like optical port, may funnel them into the expensive Q symphony sound bar purchase too as the on board speakers are pretty lacking in this TV. All in all it’s a good TV but for the price I think at least should have included an optical output.
