I don't love the spacers, as they can easily shift and fall over, and they're also pretty thin, so you might need to double them up or more to get the right spacing and depending on where your drywall ends, they may just not be useful. The pull bar and taping block are fine.The contour tool is awesome, I've really needed it in the past and it is clearly going to speed things up for me. Note when you lock it, it does compress the outline a little, but no more than the precision it gives you so the outline you get is still about right.The mallet seems to be the same material on both sides, just one translucent and one black (description implied one side was a normal hammer head). otherwise it's a great size and has a solid handle grip.Unfortunately I'm not quite ready to start my next flooring project, but I will update this as soon as I do.

The mallet has a nice quality feel to it and should come in handy for many uses beyond just plank installation, particularly for more precision work than the usual full sized mallets are suitable for. Both heads can be unscrewed and replaced when needed.The contour device is large and has a handy locking function, but the plastic slats are a bit sticky and wind up fouling the contour measurements a little bit. I’ll try some light wax-like lubricant and see if that improves it.All of these tools and even the wedges should find uses beyond flooring if the owner has other construction projects to get done, especially woodworking and home repair.The box is a reasonable quality and the packing materials inside are adequate with medium-thickness plastic bags and some bubble wrap, but it would’ve been nice if they’d gone a step further and provided a zip-lock mechanism on those bags or even a foam insert organizer in the box, making it more like a proper tool box. It’s ok as it is but could’ve been a couple notches better with just a small amount of extra effort.At $25 it’s a good value for the whole collection.

I have not yet used this to install LPV but will in the coming months when the project gets to that point, and will update at that timeThat said, presently I’m impressed with the quality of everything in the box. The hammer is durable (although heads screw on and mine were loose upon arrival, easy enough to fix). Banging on various things so far hasn’t dented the rubber mallet headI really like the contour gauge which is why I got this set. It is easy to measure/indent and then lock into place. Helpful on so many other projects around the house! It isn’t the highest quality contour gauge but will work well for this DIYer!It is a good set for an affordable price!

This tool kit is probably a must-have if you are installing a laminate or LVP floor.However, we already had a snap-together, floating floor.The problem was there were some gaps between the ends of some of the planks.Using the steel pull bar (although you don't pull anything with it), we were able to hammer the ends of the planks until the gaps were closed.The only thing that could be better is the weight of the mallet - it's a bit light, so if you really need some heft, you'll have to grab something heavier. I used a 4lbs sledge, which worked perfectly.One note: whatever goes on with the manufacturing of this kit, it stinks like the dickens!So if you have a small living space or are really sensitive to smells, you are not going to like opening this thing up the first time.I'm sure it abates after a while, but, holy cow, does it smell bad at first.

These tools are not really necessary or essential to install your own plank flooring, but they and can speed things up quite a bit, save a fair amount of time, and simply eliminate a lot of hassle for DIYers. Installing plank flooring by yourself takes many, many man-hours of labor, and, if you don't do it right the first time, you are going to have to do it over again. That is where this rather inexpensive tool set can have a big impact. I know because we did the plank flooring in our basement without these specialized tools, and I am definitely going to use them when we install the vinyl plank flooring in our the main floor rooms.The 40 spacers in this kit will ensure that you're flooring is just the right distance from your wall to allow for proper expansion and shrinkage, and the space gaps will be covered adequately by the baseboards when you are finished. Probably the biggest installation slowdowns occur when you must precisely cut and fit the plank flooring to match corners, closet and door frames, and such. This is where the contour gage becomes invaluable. Without it you're going to have to do a lot of precise measurements, drawing, and then cutting. Using the contour gage, especially with the handy little wok feature, will allow you to precisely mark and cut the exact profiles needed to fit these very tricky spots.You will also spend many happy hours tapping the planks together and adjusting them to ensure a proper fit. This is where this steel pull bar and the tapping block make life a whole lot easier for the installer. You will probably use them many hundreds of times doing your floor installation, and since they are made specifically to do these jobs, they will end up saving you hours of labor. This is how this little toolkit becomes well worth the modest price you pay for it.Of course these aren't the only tools you'll need for installing laminate flooring. You will also need some tools To accurately cut the planks to the exact right length ly when you reach a wall, and there are several different types of cutting tools that can be used for this. You'll also need a jigsaw, or other means of precise cutting, to use in conjunction with the critical profiles made with the contour tool. Also don't forget that some laminate flooring may also need some sort of underlayment. Make sure you do your research before you start the installation.
