The Atmos doesn't separate the way I want it to on my system (I don't yet have a full atmos surround setup, and this doesn't "dumb down" to 5 point surround the way I suspect I'd want it to.) The DTS-MA soundtrack is great, and I think I might prefer it to the 2013 version (also by Stephen Wilson). This sounds less like a surround version of the old mix this time, which is fine. For instance "in her white lace" comes in behind you and is way more "in front of the mix" when it first comes in. If you are a purist, you won't like this, but then just listen to the stereo version. I LOVE the new way of hearing this music. I've been listening to this album for a half-century, so this makes it fresh. And Jon's voice jumps out of the center speaker in a WONDERFUL way.The packaging is very nice, and the price is much more reasonable than a lot of similar offerings of this type. But the holders for the Remastered CD and Blu-Ray are horrible. Ugh. Should have done something else with those. Not only that, but the lyric sheet (the original inner sleeve graphic) is mind-bogglingly backwards in the center of the booklet, which could have been more generous if you ask me.The shocking part of this set for me was the LP. I have the previous (non-Steven Wilson) pressing that sounds good, but for some reason this pressing sounds AMAZING... as in one of the very best 4 or 5 LPs I've ever heard. SO clear, hard to believe it's a 50+ year old recording.

Another excellent release of a Yes album. Close to the Edge is the third of their "Superdeluxe Editions" I purchased, and like the previous ones (The Yes Album and Fragile), it contains all you need to enjoy their supreme music making.Not going to comment about the unique style and superb quality of the Yes sound that everyone is familiar with. Just wanted to thank whoever is responsible for these editions. This one contain a new remaster of the album in cd and vinyl, a blu-ray with high resolution stereo and surround (5.1 and ATMOS) mixes by Steve Wilson including the instrumental version, also rarities, single editions, and live versions. What else a fan is to expect? In addition, these Yes superdeluxe editions come in a decent size easy to store, almost the same as usual 12" vinyl versions, and not in a huge and thick box that usually will miss either the vinyl or blu-ray, which are separately sold as in many other super group releases.So thanks again and keep them coming! So looking forward to Drama and all other Yes albums to receive the same high res and vinyl treatment.

Hard to believe that this ultra classic album could be any better, but the newly remastered sound is outstanding. You can hear even more instrumental and singing detail in each song than ever before! Absolutely brilliant and enjoyable!

Yes recorded what would become their fifth album Close To The Edge at Advision Studios in London from April through June of 1972. Drummer Bill Bruford would leave after the recording sessions but before the tour. Close To The Edge would be released on September 8th in the UK and a week later in the US. The album continued the band's artistic and commercial upswing. Close To The Edge frequently finishes highly on Best All Time albums lists.So what's in the box?Well, the first disc is a new remaster of the original album while disc two includes a brand new Steven Wilson remix of the album and is followed by an instrumental version of the new mix. Disc three features single edits, rough mixes and things of that nature. What should be interesting to some here is that it also includes the full length "dry mix" of America. It was originally released on the sampler The New Age of Atlantic. It was later re-released on the collection Yesterdays but with reverb added. Everytime that it's appeared on a Yes album since, it's been the reverb heavy version from Yesterdays. Here we get the original without the reverb.The two final cds feature most of the performance from 12-16-72 at the Rainbow Theatre in London. Steve Howe's acoustic spot of Clap/Mood For A Day is missing. The band played two nights on the 15th and the 16th. The Yessongs video was recorded on one of the two nights. This box also comes with a blu ray which has the original mix and the new stereo mixes in high resolution as well as a 5.1 surround sound mix and Dolby Atmos mix. This box does NOT include the earlier Steven Wilson mix of Close To The Edge from 2013. The vinyl that comes with this set also sounds very good as well and it's mastered by Bernie Grundman.

Disc 4, track 5 appears to have a glitch at 3:09. Corroborated by multiple copies. Rhino has not acknowledged it.

A wonderful album is even better! Great sound and it takes me back to those heady days when it was first released. Roger Dean's wonderful artwork reproduced at album size. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes has done a great job with their box sets surrounding it's classic albums.The package arrived quickly. There was only one dent along one side.

プログレ・ファンであれば、誰もが知っている名作です。YESの歴史に於いても、大きな意味のある1作であり、これ以降の作風およびファンの期待に影響を与えた作品です。今回は、72年のライヴが正規版としてリリースされた事(音はメチャクチャ悪いですが・・・)、およびBlu-Rayに「Dolby Atmos」が追加されている事が大きな違いです。しかし、Blu-Ray収録の「(2ch)2025リマスター」、「(2ch)Originalリマスター」、「(2ch)Instrumental」の音源が、6.0チャネルのデータとして収録されていますので、円盤そのものから聴くことは可能でしたが、振り分けが不可能だったため、PCに取り込めなかったのが、唯一の難点でした。
