1.0 out of 5 stars Flat out did not work
So getting down to what matters with this kit. The instructions leave a little bit to be desired as there are certain things that are not quite explained well enough. Starting out cleaning the windshield and then trying to stick the aperture to your windshield: this is an absolute pain. It is not well thought out at all because the aperture frame is held so close to the window that the tube in which you pour the solution does not even thread in. Prying up on the suction cups you can about get a thread or two started. That's an absolute no-go in the fact that that tube walks and strays off the chip. Meaning that the silicone ceiling ring covers the damage so the solution never actually gets into it. To get this to work I had to actually cut the tube down closer to the threads so I could get several threads to start thus keeping the tube straight. Following the instructions you drop in two to three drops and then screw in the plastic pushing tool to force the solution into the chip to completely fill it. Skipping ahead you put a drop on the film place to film on and flatten it out with a razor blade that they provide in the kit and then you put the UV light on it so I had to UV light on there for 2 minutes, 4 minutes, even more than that. Each time scrape off the film and your left with a patch that did not work. So as far as functionality goes this did absolutely nothing but caused me to spend a lot of time in polishing a window that had several chips in it. You can try several variations of the instructions even do it whatever way you see fit and I had no success. The chip was still clearly present, not even filled in but a slight blur or haze so it looks nothing like what they show you in the pictures. Thankfully the kit was not very expensive so I feel like I didn't waste an exuberant amount of money on something that plain out didn't work.
5.0 out of 5 stars totally exceeded my wildest expectations!
my 2006 corvette got pinged by a rock on a weekend trip to vegas and back leaving me a quarter-sized star. found this kit on Bolo and decided to give it a try before opening my wallet for a $200 professional repair. completely impressed and satisfied! i really wish i had taken a 'before' photo to reinforce this review, because i can barely (and with some effort required) find the damage spot from either the outside or inside of the car. only advice - follow the instructions exactly, take your time, and be patient. i repeated applying the resin several times, and also slightly repositioned the jig once to better get at some of the legs of the star. entire process took me less than one hour, and i was purposely going slow to increase my chances for a good result. but i didn't get good - i got GREAT!
3.0 out of 5 stars Its aight
Product works ok , not professional grade. For $20 its pretty good
2.0 out of 5 stars Does not work
Is not a good product. Do not push too hard on the window. It will create cracks. The gule dry too fast. The glue does not work its way into the cracks.
1.0 out of 5 stars Does NOT WORK as intended.
Windshield repair kit DOES NOT WORK. Design seems like it COULD work but Shoddy manufacturing and flimsy construction defeat it completely. Product fails and pops apart when slightest pressure is applied and the liquid crack filler leaks from the back of the unit. Tried repeatedly and product immediately failed each time.
5.0 out of 5 stars It works
It worked well. I drove a few small holes and it filled the crack can hardly see it.
4.0 out of 5 stars Use a lighter or heat source for cracks
This does work, but takes some work. The little white applicator thing didn’t work for me at all, what did work was using the squirt bottles (I had to cut the top off and then also use a paper clip to get it to flow) and a LIGHTER or other heat source. I could not get the crack to fill until I held a lit lighter on the back of the crack (inside the windshield) which then made it expand enough to wick the resin. Once I did that it mostly worked. I can still see the original rock chip where the windshield was pulverized but I don’t think anything could fix that.
1.0 out of 5 stars UV Lamp is a Waste of Space in the Packaging
This flat out did not work. After deciphering the instructions. I followed all the steps. The suction cup frame did work as expected. The remainder did not.The suction cups for the UV lamp did not stay in place, but that wasn't really a issue seeing how the UV curing lamp did not work. Tried several sets of batteries, but it would not stay on for more than 10 seconds at a time. The final time I tried I propped it against the windshield, and when I went to remove it the suction cups fell right off the lamp and are now somewhere in the back of my dash after falling through the vents.I'll just go back to the rain-x kit ive used in the past and had no issues with.
