While this does work and seems to be constructed well enough, it is overpriced. I could literally 3D print it for less than $1 at the absolute most in ABS to resist heat as it would have to in my area with 110+ degree summers. It is actually two parts, where the cylinder meets the arms, they bend/pull out with little nubs to secure it. I could literally 3D print it solid in place (while still being able to rotate of course) making it effectively all one piece further reducing any chance of failure. Don't get me wrong, this is a good idea as I have Aqara sensors on my garage doors already and this is a more refined solution to be certain. But the price kills any value whatsoever.

i was lamenting on how i was going to mount my garage door sensor and stumbled across this. great idea and works great, just not in my instance. i have a 6' high lift kit on my garage door, which if you do not know means the garage door goes straight up the wall 6' before it starts to angle back across the ceiling. that means this little gadget will not alarm until my garage door is open at least 7'. not the best item to determine if the door is open or not. i digress. this device allows for the mounting of an aqara contact sensor on the garage door. it comes with self tapping screws and double sided tape (pick your poison to mount it). you mount this on a vertical section of the garage door. when that section goes horizontal the magnetic part swings down and the "contact" is broken, triggering an event. simple and effective.

The AMTHKNO Garage Door Bracket for Aqara sensors takes seconds to install and does a great job of detecting if the garage door is open. I mounted this at the top of the door so we can get a reading when the door is only partially up. The bracket fits the Aqara sensor perfectly, and the swing portion of it swings clear and easily. So simple yet so useful!

This Aqara sensor is a really clever idea, and I found it surprisingly easy to install—took just a few minutes to get it set up. I opted to mount it on my garage door using command strips instead of screws, and so far, they’re holding up perfectly; I honestly don’t see a need to bother with screws unless something changes down the line. That said, I’ve noticed the sensor doesn’t always trigger an event consistently, which might be due to interference from the metal on the garage door. I’ll give it more time to be sure, but I’m already thinking of adding extra command strips to create a small buffer between the door and the sensor to improve performance. Beyond the garage, I can see this little device being handy for other uses around the house, and I’m tempted to grab one or two more to experiment with. It’s a cool concept with solid execution, even if it might need a slight tweak for my specific setup.

I’m a big fan of this type of garage door sensor mount. Since garage doors are often made of steel, it can be tricky to get traditional contact sensors to work reliably. Alignment can also be a challenge due to the wide gaps in the doors. Since I use Aqara devices throughout my house, this seemed like a great solution. The build quality is acceptable, though I do worry about the long arms breaking if they get bumped. Sensor alignment was perfect, and a quick test in my hand triggered the Aqara app correctly, showing the door as open and closed.However, after mounting it to my garage door, it didn’t work at all. While the sensor “flopped down” as expected when I opened the door, it never registered any change. I eventually realized that the plastic is so thin that the metal door was interfering with the magnetic field. As a result, the sensor still showed the door as open even when it was closed. I fixed this by mounting the sensor so that the magnet and sensor were “floating” instead of sitting directly against the door. Unfortunately, this makes the installation more fragile, and it’s probably only a matter of time before I accidentally knock it off.The design could be improved by integrating a spacer behind the magnet to prevent interference from metal doors. My other garage door uses a 3D-printed version of this design, and it works flawlessly thanks to the thicker plastic backing. That said, once installed properly, this sensor is way more reliable than my old contact sensors. I really like this approach for using Aqara sensors with garage doors.If you get creative with the mounting, it’ll work well--but it feels a bit expensive for something that doesn’t work right out of the box. In the end, though, I’m happy with it.
