I am a huge RainPoint fan and use their products both inside and outside the house. They have saved me hours of yard maintenance time with their set-it-and-forget-it products. My gardens and flower beds around the yard flourish every year, and I don't miss a day of watering!This package includes a hub and a flow valve that connects to wi-fi and can be controlled by the included app on the phone. It's great for watering schedules or just for ease of turning on a water valve without having to touch the valve itself.PROS:- Once it's set up, it's simple... Turn on and off the flow of any outdoor faucet through an app on your phone. So convenient!- The app is versatile. It can be set to manual on/off on a timer, at certain intervals, or on a schedule. The app keeps track of water usage, too.- The included hub can be used to control other RainPoint devices around the house.- After I got it working, I started coming up with all kinds of ideas, like remotely spraying pesky salespeople who don't read "No Soliciting" signs or drenching package theives... the possibilities are endless. :DCONS:- I honestly wasn't sure I was going to be able to give it a positive review at first. I followed the instructions for connecting my phone to the hub, tried about 20 times, and I got a connection timeout every single time. But before completely giving up, I contacted RainPoint support, and they were extremely helpful. They walked me through the steps of the alternate connection method (called AP mode). I gave it another try, and I was connected in a flash. Thanks, RainPoint support!- Lastly, I have noted this on a couple other products... the valve has a brass connection on top, which is great. But the connection on the bottom is plastic, and I worry that one day I will tug the hose too hard in the wrong direction and it will break at that point. Note this has not happened to me yet, but only because I am very careful to avoid it. I just hope these potential break points can be eliminated on future products, making them a little more rugged for outdoor use. Not a big minus, but it's something I always notice.

Much improved RainPoint Smart Timer (4th generation, it appears), with included flow meter and hub with antenna (compared to my previous timers).Pros• Good quality; easy setup (connectivity was a breeze); access to battery (without screws)• Built-in flow meter for more efficient watering - tracking actual water usage -- so schedule can be set based on - quantity of water (vs. time). This also eliminates the need for having a separate flow meter (eliminating another gadget, along with associated cost/setup/space/maintenance, etc.) - huge plus!!• Brass connection on top (vs. bottom is plastic though)• Extra washer, filter & Teflon tape (nice to have)• New hub with antenna -- for better connectivity (I'm hoping)• Compact size -- makes it easy to connect to a hose 4-way splitter (as I need multiple hoses connected - see photo)• 5 year warranty (with registration)Con• Plastic Connection bottom side (vs. top is brass though) - it'd have been nice to have both sides with brass connectorsI've been in the process of expanding my garden automation slowly adding gadgets to my setup over time. I did extensive research and finally picked RainPoint towards that (and a huge fan of RainPoint products & support). I find RainPoint has been consistently improving product quality and adding new features - that opens more possibilities for automation, simplifying gardening chores (giving you more time to focus on your plants). And the great customer service, makes a big difference if/when you have questions or issues and it's been a delight working with them so far.

Rainpoint's latest 1-Zone WiFi water timer is robustly built (with brass inlet) and comes with a large number of features for automating many types of garden irrigation needs. The package includes the timer, 2.4 GHz WiFi hub, USB-C cable with adapter, a quick start guide, a detailed manual, and even some spare washers and PTFE tape. The hub and timer are controlled and monitored by the Rainpoint app (Android or iOS). A one-time software setup in the app involves adding the hub to the app and then adding the timer to the hub as a sub-device. This installation process is very easy thanks to the detailed step-by-step instructions in the app as well as the quick start guide in the package (few minutes of setup time). The hardware is very robust with the battery compartment using a rubber gasket seal so that the unit itself is IP65 rated and is claimed to work over wide temperature and water pressure ranges.Noteworthy is that Rainpoint offers a 5 year extended warranty that is well beyond the normal 1 year warranty of other vendors. The customer support is also exceptional with Rainpoint's team members responding to emails within a few hours to at most a day. Overall the Rainpoint 1-Zone WiFi water timer is an excellent addition for enabling automated irrigation in the garden. It offers a great value for the price and I would highly recommend this product.Specifically, below are some key features of the app and timer that stand out :⦁ Timer has built in water flow meter, so watering sessions can be programmed either by time duration or by water volume. This is extremely useful for adjusting watering needs as temperatures change during the growing season.⦁ Watering schedule menu is very flexible, allowing up to 6 individually tailored plans per day, that can be repeated in a number of ways for other days (every day, even or odd days, custom).⦁ Besides commonly found watering modes (continuous and interval irrigation), the Rainpoint app also offers a Cycle&Soak irrigation that is especially useful for preventing water run-off.⦁ "Smart plan recommendation" is another helpful feature that uses the zone info (e.g. soil type, nozzle type, plant type, grading, daylight duration) to recommend a watering plan.⦁ The weather forecast is displayed for the programmed location of the timer, so adjustments can be made manually for watering plans based on weather.⦁ A really neat feature is the "Smart action" capability that goes even a step further by enabling "If condition met then do task" setups. As an example, a watering session can be skipped or delayed based on probability of precipitation (i.e. weather intelligence). Or the app can send notifications for low battery, water leaks, etc.⦁ The chart display of water usage over time is quite useful for monitoring and adjusting plans for optimal water usage, i.e. eliminate water wastage.⦁ The connection range (distance between timer and hub) is exceptionally large, as this communication uses low frequency RF (not Bluetooth). I tested around 150 ft with trees, the manual claims an incredible 820 ft open space! Also the received RF signal power is shown in the app, so adjustments can be made to the location and orientation of the timer or hub to optimize signal quality.
