5.0 out of 5 stars Feature Rich Hardware and Turns Darkness into Day (w/ RTSP and ONVIF)

New image added for comparison: no adjustments or enhancements but heavily cropped for privacy. The dark image is an iPhone 15 with the Wide lens.April 2025 - Second Update: I've been using it for a few weeks now and love it more than ever. ... For reference, I'm using Reolink, Hikivision, and Ubiquiti hardware — no real complaints with those but the low/no light performance of the Aqara seems like science fiction. The cherry on top is using the camera as an additional hub for my outdoor sensors.Original:TLDR: No Home Assistant yet; native HomeKit video is great. Aqara app is lackluster for such a feature rich device. Also, larger than expected — like a large coffee mugNote (for certain people who will really care): It supports RTSP and allows you to pick the resolution up to 1520p (360p, 720p, and 1080p also available)Compared: I have more Unifi and other IP/POE cameras than anyone would need (enthusiasts/nerd) and this one tops them all, all things considered. The "night vision" outperforms cameras costing 5x and the analytics (on paper) are far superior than most Unifi (for those without the supplemental AI hardware). Also, I'm a former Nest users so my opinion comes from a disdain of wifi/non-local cameras.I also have multiple Aqara hubs for different applications and different portions of my property. Previously, I had to do some DIY work to get hubs where I needed (exterior). The camera now serves as a hub for that purpose as well.Software: I've used (still do) Scrypted (software to turn IP cameras into HomeKit cameras) but it required a fair amount of maintenance and hardware. Likely my fault but still. The intergration with HomeKit is a top selling point for me as an Apple TV user — notification pop up on the screen with virtually zero lag/delay because of the hardwire connection.Aqara App: While not the worse, it is far from perfect. I've only had the camera 24 hours but the nested menus make it difficult to navigate the one device. Adding faces for ID is done on a nested menu instead of the timeline for some reason. It needs work but I would prefer attention be directed to...Home Assistant: This is where the ball was dropped. The Aqara app is good for setup but then I'd like to move on. Aqara is aware of this use case because it has announced it will be working with Home Assistant more closely. I may have missed it but, as of 24 hours in, I haven't figured out where the sensors or analytics are integrated into Home Assistant. The camera is added via Matter but just allows me to "Identify" the camera. I'm sure someone smarter than me will make an integration eventually but, as of now, I'm a bit disappointed. Looking forward to official and community updates to unlock the full features of the hardware.First Update: I am even more impressed by the night/dark video performance so I added a picture. I'm also happy to see Aqara support cares enough to request/provide additional information to improve the experience.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great HomeKit cameras with surprisingly good low light quality.
The Aqara G5 Pro cameras are a great option if you’re looking to boost your home security. Their image quality is fantastic, delivering sharp and clear visuals during the day, and the nighttime footage is seriously impressive—it’s bright and detailed, even with minimal light.I recently bought three during the spring sale as it was the first time I've seen them on discount. They’re built solid and come with an integrated Aqara hub, making it super easy to connect with other Aqara devices—a big plus if you’re into smart home setups. The PoE version has been running flawlessly, and they’re actually pretty stylish for outdoor cameras. Plus, they work natively with Apple HomeKit, which is rare and makes integration with your Apple ecosystem seamless.Motion sensing seems to work well, and it definitely makes me feel more secure having them watch my property. However, there is one downside when it comes to mounting. These cameras are best suited for flat surfaces, whether mounted right-side up or upside down. They don’t seem to have much flexibility for angled installations or side-wall mounting, which could limit their placement options. That said, if you’ve got the right spot for them, they’re reliable, deliver amazing image quality, and offer excellent smart home compatibility. They feel a bit expensive but seem worth it given the lack of choice in outdoor HomeKit cameras. Definitely worth checking out!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great camera for homeKit- seamless integration
his is an amazing camera with very nice HomeKit integration, main reason why I purchased. Feels very native in the apple ecosystem. I picked this version over the wifi (this has worst reviews) because I believe PoE has a better signal and more reliable connection. You will need a PoE switch to have a clean installation which I purchased a TP Link from Bolo pretty cheap. I only Dont like the way the conector was done using a weather proof gasket which is pretty thick, had it not been that way I could had a cleaner install. See pictures. This camera is a bit bigger than it looks like on picture, but it is good size and should not be an issue for most installations. The mic sound is good, I can hear my son speak clearly. Value wise, this is not a Ring priced camera, it is expensive but if you are in the apple ecosystem, I do not believe there are many options better for less. Please note the little screw on my picture, you have to remove it to mount the camera on the wall first, I could not figure it out and did not see anything on how to remove it on the manual. Video quality is superb, even at night.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great security camera
I am surprised how quickly the camera feed comes up. It works great with Apple HomeKit. Installation was very easy and image quality is very good. I replaced one of my Lorex camera with this camera. I loved our Lorex cameras but I am now thinking about replacing them all with Aqara g5 cameras.I highly recommended this security camera.
5.0 out of 5 stars Worth it for night vision
Night color is really good. Wish it had SD card slot and would be perfect.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great camera, terrible mount.
4 stars because the camera is amazing. POE solid connection to HomeKit, zero load times, I’ve bought two. That said, I don’t know what they were thinking with the mount. It’s horrible. You can turn the camera… at all. They put a little key in it that prevents it from being angled. Makes no sense. Luckily, it’s an easy fix. Just cut it off. Insane at this price they messed up the mount so bad. Trim off the elevated piece of plastic circled in my photo. Or buy another mount. They even tell you to angle the camera for the vehicle detection but it’s impossible with the mount the way it comes.

Dunkelheit. Ich kenne nichts vergleichbares.
Extraordinary camera
The image quality is out of his world. The night vision in color is amazing and works well with just a bit of ambient light. I am using the PoE version with a regular gigabit Ethernet + an external 2A USB power supply plugged in and oh boy, this is the fastest camera I have ever own. Gone are the WiFi lost connection problems, slowdowns and lags. And the cherry on top, it works extraordinary well as a HomeKit Secure Video camera. The only problem with this camera is that it can only record events, there is no way to record 24/7.
