2 years ago, I would've never imagined that my tough, gulf-war infantry soldier neighbor who protected everyone else would end up like Stephen Hawking. Once ALS touches your life, you realize how many places become inaccessible and how house-bound they become. While the VA did build hiim a "permanent" ramp at his home for his VERY heavy electric wheelchair, it could not solve the problem of all of the places we still want him to see. This PORTABLE ramp means we can still take him camping or to the beach or other places. The 3 ft certainly holds up to the heavy demands of the chair. While a longer ramp would make the grade less steep, it also takes up more room in the van and weighs more. So you have to consider which is most important in your choice. This is allowing him to experience a little more life while he can.

I was concerned that the 3 foot ramp might be too short, but it works perfectly from the garage into the utility room.It’s nice that it folds in half and stores upright easily.When visiting my mom‘s friends, we can fold it in half, carry it with the built-in handle, and toss it in the trunk to help her with access to their home.
