As someone who'd rather drink coffee than energy drinks, I always get sort of perturbed about this much caffeine in one drink. The equivalent of 3 cups of coffee in 1 drink never sits quite right with me. But whatever, in terms of taste this actually does come back to that adjective: perturbed. This claims to "drink like juice," and it does, but definitely like juice from concentrate. There's this "uncanny valley," kind of quality where its just not quite right, and you can't really figure out what it is, just that there's something wrong here. It has a rich sweetness like juice, but some sips also come with a tang on the waaaay back of the tongue, reminding you this is not in fact juice. Other than that I feel like what most people want is "X-mg off caffeine for Y-dollars," and I think this does fill that niche pretty well. This is less that 2.50$ per can at time of writing, and I don't think that's all that unreasonable a price. I won't say this is a good way to get protein, and do wonder why its in there at all if its only going to be 3g, but whatever. Is this for me? No, but I also literally never buy energy drinks, so maybe I'm not a great authority on the matter. If you want a fairly-priced, high caffeine beverage that tastes sort of like juice, then maybe give these a shot. Nothing great, but also not terrible, given just how strange some energy drinks can be. 4/5; not incredible, not awful, just fine (and affordable.)

We drink a lot of energy drinks, typically carbonated which these are not. As for the flavor, these weren't terrible but there was a taste that came while drinking that was almost chalky that really turned me off of these. We ended up not finishing the pack because we weren't a fan. I feel like without that chalkiness these would have tasted great. They do have a good amount of caffeine which did t give us jitters, but it also took a lot longer to drink a can since it wasn't our favorite. Overall, neither my husband nor I were a fan. We had a couple friends trying who did drink it and seemed to like it better than us but still not a huge fan. It might be that we are so used to certain drinks at this point.

My boyfriend has taken to drinking energy drinks. He's become a bit picky about what he consumes, as he tends to like something that tastes good and doesn't have a bad crash afterwards. So far his favorites have leaned towards Alani and Red Bull, although he does like things like Bloom.He was excited that this was a variety pack and that he'd get to try various different flavors. He probably wouldn't admit it, but he did enjoy the way the cans looked. It got him more excited for the drinks in general. Unfortunately he wasn't able to muster any actual excitement for the drinks once he consumed them.Per him, the drinks were just OK. He likes them enough to where he will finish the drinks remaining, but not enough to purchase an entire case of these. I asked if he would buy them individually and he said he would, but really only if there was nothing else he liked more in the cooler. He really couldn't muster much excitement for these, so honestly I don't know if he would actually buy them or not. The price is about average for what you might pay on the shelf.I'm finding it hard to really endorse these given that my boyfriend was so ambivalent towards them. Offhand I suppose I wouldn't - it's also a bit odd that this contains whey protein. I guess they were trying to make a drink that gives energy in more ways than the usual beverage, but it's just a bit odd. I don't think that the average consumer would check for dairy allergens in an energy drink, so I could see this being an issue for some.

I wasnt sure about these at first, as some 0 sugar items have a weird sweetness to them, but these are better than most. They are sweet but not cloyingly so. There is an aftertaste that lasts maybe a couple of minutes, likely from some of the added nutrients, but I don't find it unpleasant. I don't feel like the residue is going to etch through my teeth. The fruit punch is the classic fruit punch we know dating back to our childhood. The tropicsl is mainly pineapple, and is the weakest flavor. At this point, I prefer the orange mango, even though I don't usually like orange anything; the mango shines through enough that it's a nice blend. The colors are pretty brilliant, which I don't find necessary, but there it is. If I'm drinking out of an opaque can, who cares about the color?The ingredient list is pretty recognizable, and the nutruition profile is rather impressive for a 45 calorie energy drink. It's a good size can, and on the days I don't want over 200mg of caffeine, since it's not carbonated, Ican just pour what I want, and the rest is fine the next day. I'm still quite pleased about that. The caffeine hit is pretty good, so make sure you want that much before you get these.These are a little more expensive than some energy drinks, and the nutruition may have something to do with that. If this suits your needs, it has been a good start to my mornings, either taking a walk, or heading to work. I'm pleased with the Cypher Zero Sugar Energy Drink - Orange Mango, Wild Fruit Punch, Tropical Life - 3g Whey Protein, 0g Sugar, 260 mg Caffeine option.

Upon opening the can, I noticed the drink had a strange smell, but it went away while I was drinking it. This is a variety pack with three different flavors, and they’re all very tasty and sweet. What surprised me was that there’s no added sugar, and the whole can is only 45 calories. Along with the usual energy boosting ingredients, I was also surprised to see it has 5g of protein. That’s not a lot, but I haven’t seen any other energy drink with protein before.My only wish is that it were carbonated, since I enjoy fizzy drinks, and that it had less caffeine. At 260mg, the caffeine can be a bit too much if I’ve already had coffee in the morning. Other than that, at only 2 bucks per can, it’s actually a decent energy drink that stands out from others.
