However Body Double isn't for everyone but this flick kills...for obvious reasons. This came out of his movie Body Double but I still feel that it is one of his best. However, the 4K is beautiful and the extras are awesome. I'm so glad I purchased this release. Classic twisted '80s from my past. A must see.

I have had this movie on DVD for years and thought the movie itself was quite good and had a decent storyline.Melanie Griffith looked good being this was 1984. She went on to do WORKING GIRL and then PACIFIC HEIGHTS with Michael Keaton. She was fab in those as well. Craig Wasson stars as the temporary out of work actor in Hollywood who seems to get another chance at life. He meets a so called friend through an acting class and then ends up in a prestigious house in the hills. One night while house sitting, he becomes obsessed with the woman down the hill. After a few nights, he is witness to what seems to be a murder.He rushes over to try and help, but it is too late and gets ensnarled in the mystery of it all.Melanie Griffith plays a porn star that unfortunately nearly gets herself killed in the process becoming a part in the mystery.It's a who done it murder mystery, 1984 style, with Melanie Griffith and Craig Wasson (HART TO HART).The video and sound are nothing short of superb this time around and INDICATOR has done a fabulous job.I played this back on the UHD 4K equipment and it was beautiful.** SPECIAL FEATURES ARE:~ 4K Restoration~ Original Stereo Audio~ Alternate 5.1 Surround Sound Track~ Craig Wasson Interview (1984, 8 Min.)~ PURE CINEMA (2015, 38 Min.) A classic film that looks great in 4K, but I had a lot of issues. The disc would freeze and sputter off and on throughout the film. It’s hard to tell if it’s a disc issue or my Sony player. I don’t have issues with 99% of my 4K discs. The Blu-ray played fine so at least I can enjoy that. The steelbook is great, just wish the 4K played better.

This movie I consider to be akin to 'Vertigo' by Alfred Hitchcock. The pace is a little on the slow side with a lot of non-verbal action pulling the story along. It also mimics 'Rear Window' in that the main character witnesses a murder. In this case though, he was set up to be the witness. DePalma seems to have taken these themes and added some very strong satire.He slams the porn industry in some very funny ways. You will have to watch and giggle along with some of these unforgetable scenes.What I liked mostly about this movie was that it kept you guessing until the end. I don't want to give away too much here, but a clever use of 'Hollywood Hijinks' and the line 'Don't believe everything you see' fit with the story very well.'Postcards from the edge' was the only strong movie that showed just how deceptive hollywood can be. In this film, DePalma shows how deadly and confusing it can be.As in 'Dressed to Kill', DePalma relies on non-verbal acting to carry the story, and quite successfully too. The scene begins when Craig Wasson leaves the house he is sitting to follow who he thinks he's been watching though a telescope. The scene is carried through a mall and then to a beach. I believe it's about 20 minutes. Played out well with body language and facial expressions, this scene couldn't work any other way.Like 'Vertigo', this movie seems to be drawn out somewhat. Maybe too much detail, not sure. I found myself becoming a little impatient at times for the story to continue.Not many movies attempt this slower approach, or do it in a way that makes it work.All in all, definitely a must see. Keep in mind, the action is a bit slow at times.Melanie Griffith appears here and does a great job in her role, as do the other actors. Filming, camera angels and use of props all work well. The plot is complex. This is a must see for suspense/murder mystery fans.

The story is about a forsaken actor that is set-up to witness a murder, but whose murder and who set him up?This is not the first movie to have the murder of one of a set of women as the theme. Both Larry Kasdan's 'Body Heat' and Alfred Hitchcock's 'Vertigo' do exactly the same job and well worth imitating. However, the 'Body Double' story plays absent a very necessary amount of credibility. The film simply lacks drama.The story is suspenseful, mysterious, touches on Vampire and porn film-making, and conveniently provides sex as the substitute for drama.Overall the movie is entertaining and good. But as far as combining the devices of film making together into one whole, like Hitchcock and Kasdan did, Brian De Palma did not quite get it.

ブライアン・デ・パルマの傑作。日本ではDVDしかリリースされておらず、いつかBlu-rayなど日本でも発売されると願っていたが待てず、今回インジケーター社発売のBlu-rayを購入。なんと4Kレストア版。期待したが画質はDVDより明るくなった、ような気がするだけで粒子がザラザラして観にくかった。ピノ・ドナッジオのスコアは綺麗な音質だった。（悪魔のシスターのデジタル・リマスター版の時と同じ感覚。画質より音質。）
