The color is a brownish subdued dark red which I really like and the fiber feels very light But this stuff frels rough and dry... I'm not sure if it's supposed to feel like this but it definitely isn't soft like typical yarn.

I actually use this stuff to make small sweaters for my hairless cats in the winter and they love them. The cats usually take the sweaters off after a while but they love to put them in their beds and lay on them. The hair is very nice and it has a nice reddish color to it and it feels great.
