I needed a laugh, and this light-hearted novella fit the bill. The novella was like one piece of chocolate, a tasty sweet treat. It wasn't too little or too much. It was just right.
3.0 out of 5 stars This was a fun, quick read
This was a fun, quick read. There were lots of laugh out loud moments, as well as many times where I had to roll my eyes. Despite its short length, this book has a decent plot and had me questioning things throughout. The main character was a little ridiculous at times, but I think that only added to the humorous aspects of the story. She confused obvious things on more than one occasion which often had me thinking she wasn’t super bright.Did I love this book, no. Was I highly entertained while reading it, yes. If you are looking for a non serious, quick and twisty mystery/thriller read this one.
4.0 out of 5 stars Ridiculous in a Good Way
This was absurd but in a fun way! If you're not a fan of thrillers and like to make fun of them- this is for you. If you're a fan of thrillers and want to have some fun - this is for you. If you like words on a page - this is for you!Honestly, this reminded me of a soap opera. Some of it was a little too ridiculous for me - but I found myself smiling and chuckling as I read through it. It was fast, fast paced, and quite a bit silly. I think this might be the perfect get over a reading slump book!
2.0 out of 5 stars Meh...
Freida McFadden’s The Widow's Husband's Secret Lie promises an outrageous blend of satire and psychological thriller, with a plot so twisty it should leave readers gasping. But while the premise is intriguing—grieving widow sees her supposedly dead husband everywhere—the execution falls flat.Though marketed as a darkly comedic take on the genre, the humor didn’t quite land for me. The absurdity of the twists and over-the-top narration seemed to be reaching for a level of satire that never fully connected. As the story progressed, my interest waned rather than intensified. Perhaps it requires a certain mood or sense of humor to appreciate, but despite my love for satire, this one didn’t hit the mark.Even with its short length, it took me a week to get through the audiobook—never a good sign for a so-called "unputdownable" read. If you're a fan of McFadden’s style and enjoy exaggerated satire, it might work for you, but for me, it was more of a meh than a must-read.
5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!
Quidditch. The dress. Nickelback. The Roomba... if my granddaughter wasn't asleep on my lap, I would've laughed so hard! Excellent short story!
4.0 out of 5 stars Surprises galore.
This book was funny and surprising.. I never dreamed of the ending. I laughed out loud while reading it. The ending is great! I read this book in one day. I highly recommend this book.
3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable but a bit ridiculous
Ok. I give this novella 3.5 stars. First of all there is nothing amusing about murder regardless of the circumstances. Second of all, this is very soap-opera oriented. I could see the situation a mile away. I found myself rolling my eyes a lot. This was not what I expected.
4.0 out of 5 stars 4 Stars: This one is SATIRE!
This was a fun and refreshing read. I had been in a bit of a ‘book funk’ with the physical book I was reading, and after at least two weeks of not picking that one up at all I decided to DNF it and pick up The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie hoping that Ms. McFadden could pull me out of my funk… And she did: For that I say ‘Thank You’!It seems that people who have been critical have not noticed what is on the cover: A Satirical Novella. If you Google ‘satire’, this is what comes up: The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. And this novella does that! I really enjoyed it from the beginning! I laughed and also had my mouth drop at a couple of the twists. I did actually call the major final twist relatively early on, and when it got there I said, “I knew it!” I was proud I figured out a McFadden Final Twist!McFadden pokes fun at herself and the thriller genre in general, so if you are a fan of hers or thrillers then you should enjoy this. There are ‘easter eggs’ throughout the novella in regards to her other novels, and you may pick up on them or not depending on how many or how often you read her books. After it’s over there is a seven page ‘short’ titled BAD DATE SOS!!! That gears you up for her newest novel The Boyfriend which I am currently listening to. (I will probably have it finished by the time this review posts. The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie is a quick and fun read that I definitely recommend for the McFadden fans and Thriller readers.
Super

Non lo consiglio
Un po' banale
Bad book, good seller
Bad book, good seller
Cute and Satire
You have to start reading this book knowing it’s completely satire. It was over the top and made me laugh a bit with the black and blue dress and nickelback. Overall I enjoyed it for a quick short read
