It does have a screw in it.This portable muscle trainer is small, which makes it easily carried.The size is 3.94inches x 2.36inches x 1.25 inches.I wanted this to help my lungs. My lungs are my weak spot, and when anything happens, my lungs feel like they have been attacked.I thought if this can help with exercising, then maybe it can help with making my lung muscle(s) stronger too.So far, so good "they" say.I have been using this when I am walking, or just doing anything, including house work.Sometimes it seems like I can breath a little easier when I am exerting myself.I like this as you can go at your own pace, using it when you want to. You get to be in charge.I highly recommend.

Training for a hiking trip up in the mountains and this is allowing me, while living at sea level, to do something along with my regular exercises that is helping me prepare my lungs. Good mouth feel. Easy to change resistance.

I picked up this muscle traing breather for my son who has recently started running cross country. The trainer has been helping my son to control his breathing and he has showed gradual improvements. The only complaint I have is this breathing device has some metal components inside, I don't like the idea of metal being in a product that is inhaled theough.

This is a two piece lung capacity trainer. The actual mouth piece is made of silicone and the second piece is made of plastic with a screw in the center. You turn the dial on the plastic piece to control the amount of air permissible to pass through the whole unit. This product comes with instructions in which you adjust the amount of air capacity you'd like, breathe in, hold your breathe, and blow out. I felt a big difference after one use and can imagine this is a great item to have if training for a marathon or just to train your lung capacity. It wasn't difficult to separate the two pieces and washing just includes rinsing with some warm water. On initial use, I washed with warm water and soap, but I ran it under water for a long time and then let it air dry to ensure no residual soap lingered. Overall, a great device to train lung capacity.

Overall this resistance breathing trainer has been great. It arrived completely sealed and ready for use. However, I did give it a quick wash. Once dried off, this allowed me to adjust my air intake to assist with training. While I've only used it a few times, I felt it provided the right amount of resistance for me. Fits just like a mouth guard and easy to pack and store. Recommended if you are looking to advance training regiment.

I am enjoying building up my breathing capability with this device. Wasn't sure if I could tolerate it but find there is no problem. There is an adjustable regulator which remains outside my mouth and as I advance I can adjust the air intake.

Even on the lowest setting, this thing really puts a strain on your lungs! I'm mainly interested in using this to work on my lung capacity, rather than enhancing my workouts in some way. I'm currently using it with a timed breathing regimen, but as I reach the limits of what I can do with that, I may actually start incorporating it into regular exercise.It remains to be seen how well this product works, but I can feel how much force I have to apply to pull air through it, so I have high hopes!
